I know that I have a ways to go yet in my testing, but, since I have added that o-ring under the positive block and tightened the air post up, I have gone thru ½ a tank full and have been twisting my air flow adjustment ring back and forth every few pulls to see if there is any juice accumulating around that ring like it did before. I am more than happy to report that so far, it is dry as a bone laying in the Arizona desert sun. As a side note, I am experiencing noticeably less air bubbles in my tank than before I took it all apart and added that o-ring and tightened it up. Could it be that I have (thru the help of Fad) corrected at least some of the Siren's problems ?? Stay tuned for more.

Hi. I Need some advice on how to disassemble the 22. I removed the 510 and nothing budges. Do I have to twist the deck to loosen it?

Thanks

Good news 52.

Khanninah, it`s really easy to do.....

1. Unscrew and remove the "oil film" (diffuser)

2. Unscrew and remove the 510 pin in the base

3. Using a flat head screwdriver (it must fit inside the 510 at the base)

unscrew the airtube from WITHIN the 510, you will find that the bottom of the airtube is slotted.

As you unscrew the airtube from below (inside)...
the positive wire screw (and maybe the grey plastic insulator beneath it) with become loose
and eventually fall off as it becomes unthreaded from the air tube.

4. Reverse the process - success !

You will NOT see the whole tube like this.
This is just so you can see where you must fit the screwdriver and unscrew the airtube.

The screwdriver head must be big enough to capture the slots - too small and it will just slip inside the tube and possibly damage the inner threading.

Use the correct size screwdriver !

I believe that the airpath has been closed off some - excess air is not entering the deck via the gap below the positive pin, where we have since blocked it off with a seal.

That excess air entering (or now the lack of it) could explain why more bubbles were appearing and therefore more liquid entering the deck area leading to potential oversaturation and seeping/leaking more quickly - I too have noticed less bubbles generally.

Even Ogie and myself noticed the draw was *slightly* tightened up after adding a seal, just enough to notice, although I thought I was imagining it at first until someone else pointed it out.

Less air entering the deck would explain that.

This is a matter of contention though - even I am dubious about the actual amount of air that could bypass the airtube by way of the gap.
I noticed a difference nevertheless.

Today's seepage update:

3 of the 4 test Sirens are still basically dry after 3 full days - so looking OK

One was slightly slippery around the base - not much at all - this could be explained by the less than optimal wicking, I didn`t wick any with surgical precision, just did them normally like I would any normal day....so, that might be it.
(nb: this was one that was slightly seepy before as well)

I will have to leave them longer as I didn`t have chance to really push them hard recently after testing a 5th Siren
(with a grommet seal instead - just one day in with that but bone dry)

and also testing a Merlin Mini so a bit difficult to really put 6 tanks through their paces in such a short time unless I want a nictotine overdose ;)
~~~
Incidentally, the Merlin Mini isn`t all that exciting - bought as a test to be a candidate replacement for the defunkt Sirens...
It runs very hot !
Capacity is too low in daily use, having to refill every ~30 minutes - much better for an hour trip outdoors (or an extreme light vaper)
Of course I was aware of the capacity when I ordered it, and if it was 'fantastic' I might have been able to deal with it - having 4 or 5 on the go.
The design of the AFC and juice control is rather badly implemented in my opinion, couldn`t move the AFC ring until I replaced the o-ring, now everything turns and is rather annoying.
(too much faffing about for me and it pushes my buttons ;) )
The airflow is good for MTL, I used the fitted restrictor with the aiflow wide open...that`s OK
Just not something I will spend any more time with as there are more suitable things available.
Hey Fad, thanks for taking @Khanninnarh's post and steering him in the correct direction on this while I was out. That's exactly what I did and you prolly answered him a bit more clearer than I could have:thumbs:.
I have refilled my 22mm in question and not one leak, drip, seepage or anything going in a bad direction for me, just juice where juice is supposed to be and air where air is supposed to be, and never the twain meeting. FANTASTIC !! Makes me want to drain my 25mm and do the same thing to it. I might waste a tank full of perfectly good juice and do it on second thought, as this 22mm is doing SO WELL.
Ti's such a shame that you had to scrap a Siren :( to figure out where the assembly misfit (I have another word for misfit that I really want to use, but won't here) was happening. You've done some really "Top Shelf" work here Fad and we all appreciate it very, very, very much. You're my Hero Fad.:thumbs::thumbs::thumb: 5 out of 5 thumbs up on this project go to you.
    If you could post a video of this many Siren owners would be happy.
    Fad. Thanks for all the work on this!
    Yeah, it would, but, I still think that some of the problems were due to not changing out worn tooling. We will see, as time goes by. Simply tightening up the 510 and center post is too easy of a fix, but, is totally plausible as the main culprit here as it would be so easy to not do correctly on the assembly line for tired, underpaid, under trained, unskilled workers that may or may not care about anything except collecting their next pay check. It's a thought at least.
    How true, with us being the guinea pigs.
    Yeah, I feel the same as when buying a new version of Windows for my computer, I'm a Beta tester. Waiting for version #2 to fix all the problems that version #1 had, except we won't be seeing a version #2 with this Siren.
    It's a shame because just a couple little tweaks and it could have been a near perfect MTL tank.
