Incidentally, I bought a 25 yesterday on gearbest during the last minutes of the Flash sale, the shipping time is showing as May 4-16

I only just noticed this morning, not so with the black ones which are shipping next day - I have a suspicious feeling that they`re expecting more but won`t actually get any.

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

lon, is it stuffed to the brim in the channels? Also, another thought, and I know Fad can explain this a lot better than I, is your wicking touching the little ummm..... (oh man, Fad, what's that thing called?) oil film? (The gold piece in the pic.)

That`s unusual, it was OK for 3 months but only now has started acting peculiar.

Just to rule out anything obvious - have you changed anything regarding your setup since the time it has been misbehaving ?

In other words, is everything still exactly the same to your knowledge ?

Liquid, wick, coil ...even the device/wattage...etc

(Kat, it`s the "oil film"...which I prefer to call a diffuser as it diffuses the air flow)
Even if the coil was lowered too far, I would have expected a tighter draw and possibly more gurgling to occur rather than dry hits initially - it`s a mystery

As you saidm dry hits are caused by lack of liquid reaching the coil, in addition to but not necessarily, too much heat.

I can`t visualise at this time any physical reason (everything being equal) why a dry hit would occur except for the wick being too tight - but it would have to be insanely tight considering the amount used...particularly with a 3mm coil.

I edited mine as well....I think that they think it`s to stop liquid getting inside, I`m dubious about that claim - it might help to some degree but I wouldn`t expect it to stand up in court ;)

It works better as an airflow restrictor inside the atomiser - which is where the airflow should be restricted...internally
not solely at the base or the drip tip - for a smoother airpath.

The reason why you can`t just buy a sub ohm tank and expect it work as MTL, no matter how much you close the air vents off - the whole airpath must be restricted properly for a smooth experience.

Yes, it`s workable but it doesn`t work well.

^ That looks visually OK - the same as I would see on my 22 Sirens

One question I have is with the thread showing where the tank chamber screws onto the build deck - there should be no threading visible.

Just wondering if you have used a different glass or (my guess) a different o-ring at the top of the glass.
(it should be a thin o-ring that sits inside the upper rim of the glass, the glass does not push up against it like it does at the bottom - it`s not the same one that sits in the base)

Not that this would have any effect on the wicking of course....just curiosity.

Either way, that wick looks really quite saturated to me.

Any more info you can give....did anything change before you started experiencing dry hits ?

The only thing I can really think of is that the wick is too tight, right inside the coil itself...
the tails might be wet but being cotton (and less forgiving than rayon) it`s not feeding the coil itself fast enough.

ie: "but now only dry hits after 3 puff"... it can`t keep up.

If you let it sit for a while, does it work OK then for a short time ?
(ie: after you have given it an amount of time for liquid to reach up to and soak the wick inside the coil)

Does taking a couple of draws first without firing the mod help ?
(ie: sucking juice into the deck and saturating the wick a little prior to firing)

I've changed the orings...i will look at them as i finish this tank. So on the upper side should be a thiner oring

That`s right...but to be quite clear, the thinner o-ring should go onto the metal top first, it sits tight inside the recess where the upper rim of the glass goes...

the glass then goes into the recess and goes around the o-ring....so the o-ring holds the glass in place..

The edge of the glass does NOT .... up against the o-ring like it does at the bottom.

I hope I explained that OK :?:

~~~
The airflow you now have when the air flow control is turned off is weird.
I`ve just looked at a Siren and can`t see where air could be getting in if it`s not through the AFC on the base.
If it`s just a little airflow, it maybe simply bypassing the holes on the ring due to becoming looser over time..I have one which is almost airtight when closed off and another which has a bit of airflow.
I`m grasping now ;)
