We are weighing juice ingredients, not diamonds, so it's not so critical as long as you get the results you expected.

I've been very pleased with this one. It's wildly popular among DIY juice mixers. It comes with calibration weights, a bowl to contain spills, an AC adapter, and it weighs to an accuracy of .01g. The price has risen with its popularity since I bought mine, but you may be able to find it for less.

This one is half the MSRP the manufacturer offers it for.

Just got this one. I was using the scale the OP is considering and it worked great for small batches of juice - up to 50mls or so in a glass bottle - but won't do 100mls. So, to the OP - the scale you have chosen will be fine for 30ml plastic bottles.

I do have a question about my new AWS LB 501:

When I open the cover and lay it flat behind the scale, it lifts the rear feet of the scale off my work surface. Is that common?

I haven't noticed that. Do you use the bowl or just the flat plate of the scale? It might be that the bowl provides weight to keep the cover from tilting the scale. I like the bowl for containing drips if there's a run down the side of the bottle.

That was just with the plate, no bowl. I'll try it again with the bowl.

I need to point out that I haven't actually used it yet, so maybe just putting a large glass bottle or beaker in the scale will be enough to weigh it down.

I reload ammo, which is much more critical, and always make sure my scale is on a flat, stable surface for accuracy. Probably not as critical with DIY e-juice, but still want to be as accurate as possible.

Yep, snapped all the way on.

Just checked with the bowl and the rear feet are not contacting the work surface. With the cover open, I can push down on the rear of the scale and the cover moves up as the feet are pushed down. If I put the scale on a thick place mat and let the cover hang over the edge, it elevates the scale enough to allow it to sit flat.

I may just remove the cover altogether.

I just checked my LB-501 and the cover doesn't raise the scale. I do see the issue you are having. My cover contacts the table on the hinge side of the cover. If I press on the cover when it's open, the scale rear feet lift up.

Maybe a set of taller stick on rubber feet on the the scale will fix that. If the scale is higher the cover can lay flat without lifting the scale. It's something I hadn't noticed. I usually open my scale and put a Boston Rounds glass bottle on it immediately. The weight holds the scale flat on the counter top without issues.

Yep. I'm just putting a square piece of an old dinner place mat that is a couple of mm thick under the scale. It lifts it enough to just clear the lid. Just placing a bottle on the scale is not enough weight to flatten it, without something underneath to raise the scale, even with the bowl.

Thanks a lot for the responses. :)

Scales are not for everyone. Typical batches and frequency (among other criteria) can help you in determining which way to go. Would try volume/syringe first, fairly cheap and will provide an emergency back up in case the scale drops/dies. At the very least, you would not have to buy two scales to be safe.
