So I know some mech mods use direct contact, so the atomizer is directly connecting to the battery. I have a question regarding my first mech mod I plan on buying:
https://www.fasttech.com/product/3476800
(Yeah I'm buying a cheap clone - I don't know if I'm going to enjoy using a mechmod yet so I'll try something like this first)
As you can see it has an direct contact setup, which I know can be a problem with some rda's, but the thing is I don't plan on using anything other than the RDA that's supplied with it. So is this still a problem if I'm only using the tugboat RDA that's with it? I wanted a nice mechmod and RDA setup that looks nice together (matching), and personally most of the Tugboat V2s look sexy to me, even the V1s do too! :)

Thats a cool matchy matchy set up :) I love my Tugboat Rda it vapes great and I have been wanting to get a Tugboat mech mod to match it. I say go for it, it will be a good set up. I recommend you use good batteries in it either Lg's or Samsung 25r's. If you do not have any 101 vape has them for 8.90 per pair! The discount code is = blowout https://101vape.com/batteries/655-samsung-inr-18650-25r5-green-pair.html#oid=1003_416

thats a good choice you made for a new mech and rda, build safe and have fun with it.

Hmm, those batteries are 20A and I plan on building 0.25 ohm (dual Clapton at 0.5 ohm each) which should draw around 16A (assuming no voltage drop and fully charged batteries - 4.2V), that seems to be a bit close. Does it matter that it has no centerpin? People are telling me this is bad because it can cause a short with some RDAs but I don't plan on using a different RDA than the one supplied with it, I like things that match :)

No you are fine with the hybrid type connection. That mod and atty are a matched set its ok. If you use a different atty on the mod just make sure the pin protrudes beyond the connection so its safe. There is always sag, and those battery's I linked you too are really the best option right now. .25 on those cells and that set up are just fine you will be safe.

So, 4A isn't close enough to be considered dangerous?

I personally would be a little hesitant with that as a first purchase because it has no user reviews. Many items on fasttech are usually reviewed, and to see one that is not reviewed means it probably doesn't have a great following. People go nuts on that website. Don't be the guy to get the device and find out it's garbage. It is also possible no one has really had a chance to review it or buy it.

That being said, are you sold on a hybrid style device? Are you interested in the 3 post atomizer? If so we can help you put together a device and atomizer around the same price.

Short answer is yes.
The thing you have to check is whether the 510 centerpin on the rda sticks out enough.
and will continue to stick out.

for a true hybrid with no 510 connector, there is the vapelyfe mod.
or the nemesis with 3d rtda
or elm with treeoflife or similarly threaded mod.

I know. I wish they had a color other than green.
At $6.50, does it make a difference? I'm not a huge fan of green (more blue and purple), so I'd just sand off the paint layer and mirror polish the mod/atty. And agreed on the VTC4's, as long as they're from a reputable source and are not fakes. 30A CDR is the best you're going to get right now. Maybe the Orbtronics 30A battery also, which has the same specs as the vtc4 - 30A CDR, 2100mah. Nitecore also has a 30A CDR battery with 2000mah. It's on par with the VTC's, I've used it right after a Sony and it was the same vape.
As for the mod/atty, being a direct to battery connection, just make sure your center pin protrudes past your atty's threading and you're good. Be safe not to melt the insulators with hot builds.

Not trying to dissuade you from that Tugboat set but.. For a little bit less, you can pick up an Infinite StingrayX, and a Derringer for $21.95 from Vapor Range right now. Anything Infinite makes is going to blow most of Fast Tech's stock away quality wise. Plus it comes with both a regular 510 top cap, and a hybrid one, just in case you have a questionable atty you wanna use on it. The Derringer is the Tobeco version, I have 3 and they are top notch as well. The Derringer works perfect in hybrid mode, and is pretty small even with an 18650 battery in it. I went backwards from regulated vaping to mech mods. I just got two Stingrays a couple months ago, and havent used any of my other mods since.. Theres a good chance youll like it, might as well get something decent quality that will last for the same price. Not to mention, they offer free shipping anywhere in the US, compared to waiting for Fast Tech which could be anywhere from a week to a month before you get it.. I live an hour or so away from the Vapor Range warehouse so my stuff always gets here quick.. In fact last time they messed up an order, they sent me a black Derringer instead of a stainless one. Wrote them that morning, an hour later had a tracking number for my replacement, and it arrived the next afternoon! AND they let me keep the black one they sent.

Infinite (and HCigar) doesn't make anything.
They resell products made by other manufacturers.
Some of the same ones that sell to fasttech.
Fastech just doesn't advertise the manufacture.
