I have had my ecig for a few days. I haven't noticed any effect from nicotine from either the low medium or high catridges from what Totally Wicked gave to me.

But then tonight on the forums I saw a tip about direct inhaling. I tried it... and now I feel like I'm actually getting nicotine. It could be placebo, but it feels kinda like a pharmaceutical nicotine high.

With cigarettes I would always draw in a hit into my mouth, let it humidify, then inhale. So I did this with my ecig but never felt anything.

Anyone else have this experience??

My thoughts are that the nicotine actually can just cling to the mouth and not really absorb unless you direct inhale.

My husband noticed this too. I didn't so much....but once i started the direct inhale well I haven't stopped LOL. not sure about the theory on it. BUT....the ecig delivery method isn't as fast as analogs...and the method is a little different for the inhale....sounds like a good theory to me! (it would also explain the clinical trial I read about that shows ecig vapers nic levels being no higher than someone who hadn't smoked anything)

Ever since I started direct inhaling tonight, I have been doing things I normally don't do.. like I definitely feel higher. I never felt anything before with the ecig in the last two days until now.

I doubt most cig smoke is absorbed through the mouth because I have tried not inhaling cigs before and they never did anything to me... just went back to inhaling them.

I only hold the button on the battery for a second or two then just keep inhaling deep... then exhale a nice plume of vapor... i'm sure if i pressed the button for longer I would end up feeling like I was burning my throat but haven't tried it.

I kinda like the nicotine high from traditional smoked tobacco though, but hey... this isn't too bad... if its not placebo.. we'll see..

Actually the not holding the button longer is probly part of you're problem with not feeling it if you don't direct inhale.... the button activates the part that MAKES the vapor if ur only holding it for a couple seconds then ur not getting the full effect. (I'd be surprised if you weren't sucking juice into your mouth too....cuz it's not turning into vapor that way)

HeatherC - no... nope..

Before when I -wasn't- direct inhaling I would hold the button a long time to draw the vapor into my mouth, THEN inhale.

But now I can just press it for a tiny bit while i'm doing a deep inhale, sometimes keeping the inhale going 4 or 5 seconds after i stopped pressing the button.

Overall the nicotine feels odd to me. I guess I'm not used to pure nicotine in inhalation form.

Edit: I can vape nice long "hits" of my direct inhale method... and after 5 or 6 I'm satisfied and put the ecig down. Just like a regular cig.

most of the nicotine from vaping is absorbed through the lining if your mouth and throat, more like dipping or a nicoderm patch on your skin. smoking delivers it directly to the blood stream via the lungs. it feels different because its pure nicotine, and not the 4000 other chemicals. i didnt feel much until i started direct draw either. i do a 4-5 second press and inhale. i believe the burn is the nicotine collecting in your throat. i've had similar feelings when i used a good swedish snus:)

Thats my whole rub. If its only being absorbed through the mouth then I theorize people are not even feeling the nicotine at all this way...unless they chain vape all the time, and maybe not even then... that could be explaining why people are just chain vaping??

or could explain how people seemingly switch from a higher dose to a lower dose of nic and notice no changes?? basically they aren't even getting nicotine...

my rub is that i didn't start feeling nicotine until the direct inhale... and i do it very well...

but honestly the coming days will tell if this is truly true... as i smoked and gave away the last of my nat shermans tonight! only ecig for now on until i can test this!!
