You really cant go by the serial #'s after numbers in the 800's to determine if one is aluminum or nickel platted . Because the batches we would get each time rather it was aluminum or nickel plated was not in numerical order. One batch would have numbers in the various hundreds. Then the next batch would have various numbers in the hundreds and various numbers in the 1000's. So one batch would have several numbers in the 800's, several in the 900's and several in the 1000's.

I tried but I cant understand how wiki works. I have to ask Urbanite for some help here

Imeo,

If you were to tally up a list of serials each time you send to plating and send it to one of us, we can get the wiki updated with that information. Also could you send one of us a list of items shipped for future shipments along with the information provided below? so we can add the information to the wiki in advance

It will be a bit difficult (But not impossible) to add that info for devices that are already owned. Would just need the owners to provide the info to us in either in a new thread or send it to us in email or pm's.

Model: GGTB, GGTS, Grant, Slim, Super Slim, Nano etc
Serial#: ####
Material: Brass, Aluminum, SS, etc
Plate Material: Polished Nickel, Matte Nickel, etc

Thank You,

Zor...

Michelle, after a specific number all GGTS were nickel. I just cant remember what this number was. I think it was 800. But I will try to check it

Zor, you are right, I can do that for GGTS. But I cant do it for the other models because they arent numbered and I made too many combinations like nickel caps with brass body, nickel body with aluminium caps etc.

I am assuming that the plater where you take the parts uses a dipping system to plate.

All runs in a metal plating line won't be exactly the same as neither will each individual piece, the plating may be a little thinner on one piece compared to another there could be a slight contaminate in the metal or solution or maybe a slight residue from the cleaning tanks which each would have gone through.
I used to have scooters back in the day and i'd get pieces chromed for them and you could get the exact same thing two parts where one would stay clean for ages and another go dull quickly.
Its just one of those things.
Hope this helps a little
