Its not actually a filler 'cap', its the filler ring/seal that fits tightly around the cup but it does have a lip that fits over the edge of the cup. On the sides of this ring there are 'cut-out' areas on the filler ring/seal for the area where the wick goes through clup slots and into the cup....It's important as a properly seated filler ring prevents leakage into that cup and down the airstem...

I just put mine back in upside down. I do use cuticle nippers to make a larger center hole for easier draw.

Man... I'm having a brain fart today or somethin. lol After looking at the pic's and reading all the info here I'm still confused about this mod.
I think I need to buy a few of these E2's as I've never seen one and it's hard for me to tell what is "added" mod material and what is "standard" E2 stuff. lol I like the steel wool idea cause you could make it semi-transparent to hide the guts but would still be able to see the juice level.

Looks pretty cool. Thanks for sharing your work dude. This forum (thanks to folks like you) is an invaluable resource for us clueless .......s. lol

See, that's one of the problems with vaping cartos or attys with carts. You can't see what's going on inside.
Clear is cool :) If the o-rings fit then the space inside is about the same as the steel tube, right?
Anyway here's a side view. Inner slotted seal, then middle o-ring (upside down) and soft top.

Thanks for the info. One other quick question, are there any issues with using these on 5v setups?

There are a couple listed in the Supplier Section of this forum.
VaporJunction is on the list but sold out of some styles.
And I think there is a 10% code for ECF members, ask.

Nothing but the normal issues with attys or other cartos on 5volts.
You know, burnt taste, failures, etc.

Kidding.

I don't do 5v. Maybe someone else will comment.

They work really well on a 3.7 volt big battery mod :)

Storm, your guide is the best! I just bough 5 BD's for $.50 at the pharmacy. The pharmacist said if you get them without needles, you don't need to even log the purchase. It took me 10 minutes to make this and it works like a champ! Next time I need to leave a little more room to cool the vapor. If anyone has updated instructions on how to do this but with the PTB mod included, please post it! That will be my next effort!!

Did you have to heat the BD syringe to get on? They're almost 30mm smaller then the Kendall monojects and I have to force that on.

There's a fine line w/ having too much room on top and having condensation build up. It can juice ya and flow down the air flow chamber sometimes. I'm going to experiment w/ different spacings.

The PTB mod would be the same as w/ a CE2 stock carto.

As for 'storm's earlier question about taste changing/refills. I have noticed that but more importantly, I need to expand the notch of my filler ring some like you did. I still get occasional dry spots. When I do I just tilt a little to wet the wicks but expanding the notches is a better idea.

I'm going to try it with a drip tip. I think that's all I'll really need.

Really? That's all it is?? OMG that is too easy! Is PTB the BEST wicking material or just one of many that can be used? If so, what is better?

The problem, as I see it, is air. I did expand the notches but the wicking still isn't great. Either I drag too quickly or I need to add the PTB mod. If I vape it up in the air so that the liquid is closer to the pot, I get a better drag but that is just stupid looking. If I could get a more consistent flow to the coil, I'd be happier with this whole thing.

A drip tip should work well, I didn't have any on hand. The first syringe I used had a larger diameter and I made an adjustable mouthpiece for it. It was nice for lowering and raising the gap on top. It's too big for my 'monoject' syringe.

It's favored by most. There's a little trial/error getting the folds just right but it's not bad to do. There are different CE2 PTB mods out there. The wickless/long tailed PTB seems to be the most popular.

Yes, try the PTB mod. I've done it w/ stock CE2's and plan to do it w/ the syringe mod as well. I think you'll like it.

With we modders it's hard to come up with anything new in the way of a mod. Most mods will work better than the original and we keep coming up with improvements every day. So my first question is,, Has this been done before? and my next question is, Did it work?
A large clear tank around the stock CE2 like Imeo's AVS with a couple large holes drilled in the side of the stock carto. This eliminates the need to remove the tube and you can still see how much juice you have

Mods similar to this have been done. And yes, they do work. The other mods were done by several of us by sticking an E2 into the neck of various sized plastic juice bottles. Too crude for on the go, but very good to experiment with. I don't want to hijack this thread, so won't say much about them here. Instead, I'll show you a couple links that may let you know if you want to investigate further.

This is the first one I did for testing problems with the wicking capabilities. It worked well enough for other people to eventually begin making various versions.

Here is a later version. It is the forerunner of a nice one that I plan to build in the future. I will probably whip together a more refined prototype in a plastic bottle before building a final version.

The thread with the above version is still active, so if you see something that interests you, jump in and fire away. I'll warn you ahead of time that we are mostly a bunch of idiots and right now everyone is going crazy about a Tankomizer. The bottle mod and syringe mod is not dead though, so maybe you can get a better idea of what everyone has been doing. Most people you see in the thread here are also on that thread.
