I have a 5v PT, to be honest haven't been using the E2 long enough to get around to a good dry burn.
When I do burn I just keep going until there is no more vapor coming off then done with it.

I'm all for getting all the use you can out of the carto but also comparing their cost to attys, if one has to be tossed I don't fret over it.

When i do a dry burn the wick turns white and the black gunk turns to ash. What battery are you using to do the dry burn. Might need to be higher voltage.

Droid is not perfect until it reads my mind and spells it correct!

Storm, As I was just reading your post my PTB E2 just instantly started tasting burnt. BAD! Real bad! I'm looking at the coil and it is caked up pretty good (possibly from the dark Waffle juice).

How do you dry burn these things? I don't have any PGA to soak it in right now and I'm not sure how to get the wick dried off to do a burn.

Which ohm are you using and what batty? I do not have any bad taste after rinsing and a dry burn with this mod. It's not the same in the larger tube to me. I hated the stock CE2's.

hi storm, im using the xl 3.0 ohm ce2 r4 at 6 volts... i also screwed them into an ego battery. still the same yucky taste. every once in a while i get some good vape

SoSo- maybe the 6v is scorching the juice. Rinse and Do a dry burn, get all the gunk out and try on the 3.7 ego. I can't imagine what the problem is. Let me know...

Vapspaz- I rinse in hot water for a few seconds, dry the wick with paper towel and do a dry burn without the tube. just hold the switch for 5-10 second bursts, you'll probably smell a nasty smell and smoke for a second or two, do this until the coils glow red amd no smoke is emitted. Put it back together and fill, put a drop on the coil too.
Or do you have a stock cart? If so, use your sink sprayer into the tube and rinse.

Never mind, Thanks. I just got it clean as a whistle. MUCH better vape now.

For those that want to know, I completely emptied my carto by "flinging it" into a towel then used my 5v PT and just kept pulsing it for about 20 minutes to get the remaining juice off the wick and the coil finally started to glow a little. Kept that up until there was little smoke and the coil glowed all the way across almost instantly upon pushing the button then blew off the coil hard several times to get the ashes off. Pretty much the same as a dry burn on a normal atty except I had to burn off all the juice that was still on the PTB and wick.

Edit: Ooops! You posted as I was finger plunking. lol Thanks for the reply. And yes, this E2 is stock except for the PTB mod. I got er though! Thanks!

3.7v.
I will try it again with another, maybe it wasn't completely dried out.
I just thought maybe there was another way to clean that would eliminate having to scrape off the ash.

It just depends how bad the gunk is, if it's caked on it does help to scrape it off between dry burns, not as your dry burning. You could risk shorting it out if you do it as you're dry burning.

Vapspax- it doesn't take but about 3-4 bursts if you rinse it first. I used to do the 20 minute thing until I realized this.

Yeah I know but you should have seen the mountain of crap I had to burn through! I think I saw ET's family landing on it. LOL Rinsing it first would have been the smart thing to do. I'm not too bright. lol

I got a question but its a bit off topic.
Just ordered some E2's and got them but it appears these have primer on them. Taste was awful at first. Any suggestions for clearing out the primer prior to first use?

I just take out the 3 rings and boiled them for about 10 min, then let them dry overnight and then they were fine.
The newer ones that come with the little whistle tip are supposed to be primer free.

I've been thinking about the gunk also, I'm starting to think it's from the condensation rather than the actual juice on the wick.
I'm gonna test my theory by putting a piece of blue foam between the filler cup and the mouthpiece. Although, it may still get on the coil, maybe that's why attys have bridges and you don't notice the gunk on standard attys like you do with these. Just a thought!
