I'm new here, so my apologies if I am not posting this in the correct subforum.

I've been a smoker for over 12 years now and been wanting to quit. At my local smokeshop I noticed some displays of electronic cigarettes that are out there. They have refillable ones, with cartridges but a lot of those seemed very pricey. I suppose it would be arround the same price range as trying to quit with nicorette or the patch. I was wondering if anyone has used these to quit and if so how well did they work? When I asked my local smoke shop they said that a lot of the e-cigs have zero nicotine in them and suggested a brand called Viper. They gave me a website to a series of electronic cigarettes that have high, medium, low and zero nicotine and said people at their shop have been using them: Viper Premium Tobacco Flavored Disposable 800 Puff Electronic Cigarettes
They told me at the smoke shop that these are disposable, so just like a pack of cigarettes... purchase a new one each time it runs out. I didn't buy one at the time because I don't know anything about them. Are they safe? How many people are using them? etc.,

I guess my main questions here would be

Has anyone tried this brand of electronic cigarettes? If so, do you recommend them or should I invest in a kit with refillable cartdriges?
Can I use this high, medium, low and zero nicotine series to "step-down" my smoking habbits?
Has anyone else quit using the viper brand or any other brand?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I would love to be able to quit smoking and if these are going to help I'll pick them up and share my results!

Thanks!

Many people here have tried disposable's to see what vaping is all about.

It's less expensive and you'll get a much more satisfying vape if you invest in a starter kit. The battery is rechargeable but the cartomizer is disposable although they can be used and refilled many times. You can pick up a mini starter kit for about $50 or a larger battery device (like an ego) for about $40. You purchase e-liquid separately and fill the cartomizer with fluid. Battery for the mini lasts approx 3 hours of continous vaping on a charge and the larger sized ego batteries last approx 7 hours and up on a charge- depending on battery size. You get approximately 1 hour per 100 mah on a battery before recharging.

I smoked longer than you, but I purchased 12 mg. liquid and 24 mg liquid and figured I could increase/decrease the nicotine to see a good level for me. The average person vapes approx 2/3-5 ml per day.

You are probably better off investing some money in a quality vape that will last you and will fulfill your needs. I just bought the KGo starter kit from Hoosier ecigs and I love it. Way better than the Blu brand I started with. Refilling isn't hard and is fast.
I used my KGO from Hoosier to quit smoking, with 24mg juices. I've tried disposables before, never liked 'em. Although I've read a lot of people quit smoking with a cigarette look-alike mini e-cigs. I wouldn't recommend disposables to quit smoking though. My suggestion is to get a Starter Kit with 2 batteries, and a bunch of e-liquids to go with it. Good luck!

I also smoked for twelve years and I quit successfully using E-Cigs. I bought my starter kit online at smokelessimage.com. They worked very well for quitting because they are about the same size as a cigarette. After that you may want to upgrade to something else, but that's what worked for me personally. You might want to buy more cartridges than comes with the starter kit so you don't run out while trying to quit, which would be most sad.

On the second day I still ended up getting smoker's flu anyhow, but if you can get past that, it works really well. I'm a month clean now and no longer crave regular cigs at all. Other people here suggest vaping and ALSO smoking your normal cigarettes so that you don't make your brain think it's being punished by vaping. You will start to taper off and smoke less and less cigs naturally without trying. You'll, over time, just prefer the E-Cigarette instead of the regular ones. I switched over cold-turkey, but I suffered a pretty bad smoker's flu from it! So it's up to you.

A lot of people here say that those mall-cig-kiosks are OKAY but not that great and they may disappoint you into just smoking your old cigs and not like vaping. So you might be a lot better off spending your money more wisely on a better starter kit that has gotten good reviews.

The disposables are... "ok."

They'll give you an idea of the potential, but will never reach the potential of a good vape. By all means, try one. It'll give you a watered down preview of what the experience can be. Just keep in mind they won't have quite the flavor of a real vaping setup, nor the kick. I first stuck my toe in with a Blu disposable.

But don't buy more than 1 or 2. They're not very cost efficient, and 800 puffs? Doubtful. Unless you're taking teeny tiny puffs.

If the disposable even remotely seems ok to you, you will enjoy vaping with a decent setup.

As to do they work? I smoked a pack and a half a day of Marlboro Reds for 23 (nearly 24) years before switching to cigs. I've tried nearly every device, product, and prescription in the book trying to quit, and never could make it past a month. And it was hell. Literal, agonizing hell every waking moment of nagging urges and anxiety.

Since making the switch, I had a few brief moments of the inkling to light up the first 2-3 weeks. But I never really missed it. And the inkling was just that - nostalgia. It wasn't a need, or urge, or crippling anxious desire.

Even the thought of an actual cigarette repulses me now. Vaping is so much more pleasurable. I got my sense of smell back. My sense of taste is rapidly improving. I breathe better.

Thanksgiving: have to visit Mom and Dad. My Dad is a smoker. I always hung out in his man cave smoking with him. Today, I had to get the hell out of there not 30 seconds in. I was going to be sick from the smoke and smell.

Do they work? absolutely.

ETA: When you decide to buy a kit, do your homework and lean heavily on advice from these guys. It'll spare you some common "noob" errors (and save money).

My first one was the disposable Krave It that I got from Dollar General. Didn't taste too bad and I soon ordered a V2 Kit. Researched about buying Ejuice and refilling the cartomizers, BIG difference! Now Im upgrading to the Ego Twist cause if you smoked a lot constant recharging of the V2 batteries is a pain.

Wow. Thanks guys for all the replies. I ended up buying two of those disposable ones I mentioned... The grape and a tobacco high nicotine one. I like them but I do puff on it for a while (5-7 seconds) to get the same sort of feel from a regular cigarette. The flavor is nice too. I could see the advantages of getting a kit if they do hit harder and faster, not about to spend the money at the moment.

I'll let you guys know my results. Thanks again!

Quitting smoking is stressful enough and I think the zero maintenance and cigarette appearance of disposables are perfect for someone just switching. I started with blu disposables for the first two weeks, even though I had already read many posts on ECF. If I had my current setup of vision spinner and mini nova I think I probably would have kept smoking. The spinner is huge in comparison to a cigarette and the novas are touchy, IMO. Once I was through the first two weeks I look for more cost effective ways of vaping.

I have never heard of the viper disposable and would be weary of buying one. However, if I had to quit again I would probably order three volt disposables and a mini ego / mini nova if the first two went well. I think many people who have been vaping for a while forget how difficult quitting was. For me the simplest solution was what worked. I have several coworkers who are older than me (50s) and are heavy smokers that I let take a few puffs off my ego and they loved it but looked confused when I tried to explain it. Im thinking of buying a few volt disposables as a backup for myself or to hand out if someone I know wants to try it.

It's something to try. The price on the site isn't really bad. When I was sure I was going to stop smoking, I bought a couple of the Kraves you can get at Dollar General for $7. They helped when I needed it, although it was more of piece of mind for me as I had a good eGo setup .. was always worried about batteries dieing on me.. Ended up giving the Kraves to the wife.. she liked them and is now vaping also!
