Bad karma? Probably not. Just bad luck in the crap shoot of the consumer marketplace. Every so often we all come up snake-eyes and get sent a product from the 1-2% that are faulty or broken, or worked to pass quality control, but then broke as soon as we got them. The fact that it's inevitable on rare occasions doesn't make it any less a drag.
I've had pretty good luck with the eight Madvapes VV Boxes I've purchased over the past year. Of the two that have built-in voltage displays, however, one voltage display stopped working after three months. It simply never lights up anymore. Probably just a fault in the wiring, but I can't diagnose it because the innards are all encased in JB Weld or epoxy. Sending it back for out-of-warranty repair was way too much hassle, so I just live with the fact that it's now effectively the same as my other Madvapes VV boxes without a voltage display. Still aggravates me a little, though, every time I use it.
You're under warranty. Send it back!
