I was given a free sample pack of dissolvable tobacco (Camel) when I stopped at the gas station and asked if they had any free samples of snus.

Inside along with samples of orbs mellow & fresh, sticks, and strips was this card for a "try one on us" and the warning that This Product Could Cause Gum Disease and Tooth Loss.

Printed on the folder of samples was also Warning: This Product is Not A Safe Alternative to Smoking. Also a Keep Out of the Reach of Children.

So are the big tobacco companies are coming out with other ways to get us to use their products or what? the card inside is a coupon for "Try One on Us" with RJ Reynolds tobacco purchase.

The only details of what these are made of is the statement that "these are made of finely milled tobacco that dissolves in your mouth". It also states that they are to be dissolved and not chewed or swallowed.

Are these like Snus or not? What is the difference?

They tasted funny and it was weird having this wade of substance slowly dissolving in my mouth.

What else is in them besides tobacco?
Where does this finely milled tobacco come from...the floor or has RJ Reynolds actually purchased tobacco milling machines and created sterile environments for creating this test marketing of a newish product?

The packaging is over the top and very difficult to open.

I was thinking of trying snus because of this forum. The last in the mouth tobacco I tried was Skoal Bandits? 20 years ago and they were super strong.

I love vaping. Curious about all this. Would appreciate info from you experienced snusers (is this a word?). I read the other thread on the comparation between dissovables.

Vape On!!!!!

There are numerous threads here on dissolvable tobacco.

While I can't say positively that the RJR Camel dissolvables are super safe, I can say that the Star Scientific dissolvables (Ariva and Stonewall) have the lowest TSNA levels of any tobacco product, including snus. I use them daily. I've used them for many years. They are atop my list of "must haves" to stay off cigarettes, a notch ahead of snus and my e-cigs.

That utterly false warning is taken from a list our government requires on the packages of all smokeless tobacco products. It does not have any scientific backing to apply to these products. Bottom line: It is crap.

Enjoy dissolvables with knowledge that you are using the safest tobacco alternative.

BTW: The Camels are not as good, or strong, as the Star Scientific products that have been around since 2002.

Thanks for the quick reply based on your longtime experience. It is a tobacco jungle of mis and missing-information out here, eh.

Tropical Bob, is there any way for us Californians to get Stonewall pellets, short of going to Kansas and trying every gas station in the state? Can one contact Star Scientific? Beg? I really would like to try them...
