Well decided to create a USB Passthrough (510) last night. Thought I did everything right, even used a USB--->AC power converter (5v output, came with my camera). Red wire from USB to switch, then from switch to positive on atty. Negative from USB straight to negative on the atty. Plugged into wall outlet and nothing. Anyone know why? The pics suck as I'm still learning this camera.

@ Eric - I'm kind of unsure what you're saying. There is a layer of tin foil-esque and assorted small wires insulating the red, black, green and white wires. I haven't checked with voltometer yet but I will! I can hear the high pithced noise of electricty when I press the button though.

@Java - thanks!! glad I got it right first time. Now the adpater is 500 mah which is why I'm thinking it ain't working...maybe not enough juice to fire up the atty.

500mah should give you a little bit of vapor. But if the adapter is protected it could be shutting itself off due to being over taxed. 2amps is really the least you want to go with @ 5 volts. A 3 amp adapter would be best. You must be getting some voltage threw it to hear the high pitched noise. I would check it with a ohm meter and make sure you have good solder connections.

GUess what...

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It works well. Feels like bigger hits and more throat hit than using my AA box w/3.7v 14500. This thing is friggin fantastic.

HUGE thanks to all the tips and help on this!!

Next step is a tutorial for both this and the AA box mod. Gonna try out my new digital camera with HD video :)

do you have a multimeter? if not, it's a necessity when modding. it can help sort out many problems that otherwise would be near impossible to troubleshoot without shotgunning (to shotgun = replace as many parts as necessary until it works, or, blind troubleshooting).

a simple multimeter can be purchased for relatively cheap at radio shack.
