Guys - I'm starting with mixing and have hit a wall. I steeped several variations of all CAP vanilla custard / French vanilla / Bavarian cream / sweet cream for a total of about 15% of the batch to always come out with a weird medicine taste. Steeped for well over three weeks in some variation of the above and always the same harsh bland medicine taste. Has anyone experienced same? Maybe I am not steeping properly? I am trying to go for that addictive rich custards taste but keep coming up blank and always that medicine taste just lingers ugh. Thanks in advance !

Some percentages of the batches would be helpful. And are you using v1 or v2? I mix vc v1 at 12-15% + 3% simply vanilla + 1% marshmallow. Sometimes if I mix at 12 I will through in a bit of toasted almond or sweet cream. I have not had these come out tasting like medicine. They don't really pop until after a month steep. But they rarely last a month.

2-4% for me. I really like the CAP Sweet Cream. Kind of has a slight coconut background.
TFA Vanilla Swirl is my favorite.
I rarely use anything else besides these two, and add at least a touch into everything.

I have TFA Vanilla Swirl but I haven't mixed much with it yet. What % do you mix that at?

Just wanted to post another recipe, this is one I came up with recently. Made a tester 5mL batch about a month ago. Without any steep I still loved it, so I immediately made a 20mL trial run batch. Let it steep for 3 weeks vaping some in between... So good! So, I committed fully tonight and made a 120mL batch:

Creamberries
1) Sweet Strawberry - Capella - 6%
2) Strawberry (Ripe) - TFA (Just double flavor 1) - 6%
3) Sweet Cream - 4%
4) Vanilla Custard V1 - 4%
5) Ethyl Maltol - 4%
6) Sweetener - 1%

Mixed at 70%VG/30%PG and 1.5mg/mL. Enjoy. :)

3-4%
Creams, vanillas and sweetners are usually 'supporting' flavors and I usually use them in the 2-4% range.
The primary flavor often in the 6-10% range.
A secondary flavor often ~4%.

Thanks! Yeah I've been mixing for quite some time now, just haven't mixed with TFA Vanilla Swirl yet.

I'm having something similar happening. I've mixed a CAP vanilla custard v2 12% / TFA Dulce de Leche 2% / Ethyl Maltol 1%. It tasted ashy-burnt even at the lowest wattage in multiple clean attys with new cotton. Then I tried the VC v2 and DDL seperatly, and both still have that burnt taste. I emailed the reseller I bought the CAP VC v2 from and they said that a few people perceive custard flavorings as having that kind of taste. I seem to be one of them.

I tried a few of these and not a single one has been great.
Vanilla cake
strawberry cupcake
cinnamon apple fritter
banana pudding
banana berries and cream
all made at the listed %, shake and vape was not a good experience. I labeled them all and put them on the shelf, hopefully they get better as they steep.

The banana flavoring from capella is down right terrible for me. The alcohol in it makes it taste so harsh. Is there any trick for the banana flavoring or does it have to steep a while?

Gonna give them 2 weeks and see what happens. As it is right now not a single person I sell juice too would buy any of this stuff and I don't blame them.

Well, after paying all the bills and buying all the groceries, I then went on a flavor-buying spree at Bullcity. :D

Got these 5 Capellas, thanks in part to this thread:

Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble
Cinnamon Danish Swirl V2
Hazelnut V2
New York Cheesecake
Sweet Cream
(already got Sweet Cream and used a lot of it -- great stuff!)

Plus these -- already almost finished my first bottles of the DX Bavarian Cream and the Shisha Strawberry -- both excellent! Plus a couple others I thought I'd try out:

Vanilla Bean Gelato-TFA
DX Bavarian Cream-TFA
Shisha Bilberry-INW
Shisha Strawberry-INW

How did your cinnamon Danish swirl turn out?
here is my hodgepodge recipe using the innacurate drops method.

30 ml batch
60 drops CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl
25 drops CAP Vanilla Custard
30 drops CAP Sweet Cream
15 drops Stevia
And 30 drops 100mg/ml nicotine.
The balance of the bottle with 40PG/60VG.
I like it a lot.

Happy to help. I think it's their sugar cookie that does the same thing. Too much and it goes bitter. Don't quote me on that though - I THINK it's sugar cookie, might be cupcake, can't remember.

Right now I'm trying to get Creamsicle to cooperate. :vapor:
Did you do any good with the creamsicle? I am getting closer to a really good mix. What I have now is good but could be better. A bit of the CAP sweet tangerine helps.

I didn't care for it; it tastes like cinnemaldehyde (redhots) cinnamon, which just tastes like metal to me -- ditto the blueberry cinnamon crumble.

I've got some of the TFA DX version now, along with some TFA Cinnamon Spice because the TFA DX Cinnamon Danish just tastes like acetyl pyrazine to me... but I haven't tried it yet. I've grown complacent and lazy, with my strawberry & cream. :D

Ohh wow! nothing like red hots to me at all just very much like a cinnamon danish well a cinnamon crumble danish to be more exact. The crumble from the graham cracker? flavor?
I have no interest at all in a cinnamon red hot flavor. Also been using it for 4 weeks in Evods and T3's and no cracking at all :)
I am going to get a 30 ml bottle of it my next flavoring order.

yeah I am slowing down on DIY as well and just making some I know I like. I have lots of flavors for the future though. Up to about 45 flavors or so.... about 10 are horrible to me and will sometime pass them on to others though. Mostly the TFA flavors... The TFA melon flavors are horrible to me. I am pretty much Capella and Flavor Concentrates all the way now.
