Ya just checked it out...after watching some vids and reading step by step instructions, I don't think I'll be in the mood to create my own carts.

Because I'm new, I'm ordering black carts from everyplace I go online. I think it would be easiest to just clean them, but I don't want to mess up and waste a bunch of filler. Is it literally just rinsing them? Do you use hot or cold water? How long should i rinse them for? How long do they take to dry, etc.

Thanks

You can use a 510 cart on a 901. Since it has more volume it will last a little longer. If you also use the same 510 cart on a 510 atty frequently, it will get too loose for the 901. If you don't block one of the 510 cart intake slits, you will get easier draw but not as much flavor as with a 901 cart from a 901 atty. I made a kludge mod thread on how to block one of the slits; I hope someone comes up with a better and easier method. Hope that helps.

I rolled long sections of polyfill all at once and cut up a ton of stuffer rolls and put them all in a container, took about one hour to make about 50. Did the same thing for the straw mod, precut about 50 straws at once, took about a half hour. If you have a clean empty cartridge, it takes 5 secs to put in a precut stuffing roll and straw (look up the straw mod if you don't know what I'm referring to).

To clean, I wait until I use a bunch of cartridges enough that the stuffing starts to not wick up juice good and is getting slightly stiff. I don't care about saving juice. I pull out the stuffing and straws, drop everything in a container I have filled with grain alcohol, shake it up, wait an hour, shake again real good, then pour it all out through a metal mesh teaball into another container.

I shake out the container in the sink, rinse it in hot water, pour out all the carts, straws, caps, and stuffing onto a small kitchen towel, take each cart and quickly shake it out to fling out excess water, fold the towel over and push on everything, then let it lay out for about an hour. It all dries. Any cart stuffing that is so far gone that this procedure doesn't fix it, I throw out - after all, I have a ton of new stuffing already, remember?

Then I stuff the carts with fresh stuffing and straws as needed. I also have some nylon teabags I put through the same treatment.

OK, that is my bulk cleaning process, super detailed, but it actually takes a minimal amount of effort. Make new carts and straws maybe once a year taking 90 minutes tops to do so. Clean out carts etc about once a week, takes up 10-20 minutes of my time tops (I'm doing my thing while the drying is occuring, so that doesn't count). Then I put together maybe six carts taking under five minutes to start off the week.

I mean, I've got it down to a very small maintenance time here. Throughout the week, a cart gets not fresh or I don't like it, I put it in the cleaning pile and get out another one. No fussing around. This is what works for me and doesn't impact my life in any significant way.

If you got time on your hands, of course, there's all sorts of other things you can do - extract juice from old carts with a needle, blah, blah - I can't imagine taking the time on some of the stuff I've read about on here.

But buying prefilled carts, or constantly buying new empty carts? No way for me, not when with this level of ease I can keep using the same carts for virtually no cost except eLiquid (which I have started mostly making myself as well now from bulk components)

I hope this helps someone. Happy Vaping :)
