There are mechs with safety features.
Those are "unregulated" devices, not "mechanical." The closest thing to a "safety feature" a true mech mod can have is the 510 pin, or if it has a fuse.

The noisy cricket 2 comes to mind
The NC2 is not a mech. It is a VV mod with bypass mode.

This is about definition of words. The OP wants safety features. YOUR definition of mech precludes any safety features at all. Consequently the OP is not using your definition of mech. Wismec on the other hand refers to the noisy cricket 2 as a "mech" so i suggest you take up your definition argument with them. Im not saying you're wrong necessarily, but its not topical atm

Yeah. Right in the first sentence
I could make a mech easy but would love to build a basic regulated mod
we learn that the OP wants a basic regulated device. What is and isn't a mech may be an interesting discussion but this seems to be the wrong place for it.

I had a SMOK Treebox that the finish wore off of, and the wood swelled up on me... i cracked the thing in half and harvested everything to put into another mod. What I learned was that tolerances matter, and 2 attempts later i gave up on making a new wood mod. Currently working on a 3d printed option that will accept the parts, and a squonk bottle. I haven't given up on this project, but have purchased several mods while working on it, lol. Good luck and if you ever complete the project make sure you post up some pics!

Mod Makers UK - great resourse but slow boat shipping unless. you pay for express shipping - you will need to sign for it unless you make other arrangements
BIG AL’S - based in Florida - primarily PWM & iPWM controlboards
Motley Mods - U.S. based - very good selection of all parts needed for MOSFET, PWM AND Regulated boards and building supplies
Mammoth Electronis - very nice enclosures
Images are of iPwm and Parallel Mosfet mods I have recently built with parts from suppliers above...goog luck, be safe
