Homeish now
Bumping as I'd still like to know others experiences...from what I ordered and mix my fav was.

Sutliff Black spice
1/4 cup tobacco in 1/4 cup PG.
Double boiled for 2.5 hours..low simmer...poked at it once in a while. Extracted with needle, half ... attempt filter with cotton but ya that didnt really work.

From that..
SBS extract at 10%
captain(VZ) 5%
gram cracker 2%

Has been my fav so far......weird cause I of course set it aside for a few to steep....but first few puffs was way to much GC....few hours in Its a Strong tobacco almost to much so. I'm torn do I love it or is it to much like the real.... :/

Okay getting ready to start an alcohol extraction but I've been thinking about what to use for the solvent. Vodka and everclear are commonly used due to the fact that they have no real flavor and contain the required alcohol content but, when I cook I use a flavored broth instead of just water to enhance the desired flavors thus, I'm thinking about using flavored alcohols such as Jack and Malibu Rum etc to help add complexity to the flavor profile. I know that I will most likely still need to add artificial flavors as I have in the Captain Black Cherry but believe it will add depth. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts on this?

This recipe may need a little explaining. The ratios given are for concentrate flavors. By concentrate I mean an extract the has been mixed with a base to make a concentrate such as : 50% Toasted Burley Extract in VG mixed with 50% VG.

So :

20% Toasted Burley
25% Full Virginia Flake
30% Izmir Turkish
20% Maple or Blackberry or Peach, Cocoa, etc.
5% Additives such as TA, ACV, etc.

Type these into the flavoring app sub-menu that comes out to 100%

Put the results into your recipe, add your base with your chosen nic level and voila!

The last few months I have come around to trying flavored tobacco's. I have Orlik Golden Sliced, Tatiana Honey Flavored as well as Chocolate Flavored, CAO Black and a Stoved Black Virginia tobacco. I felt I was giving up a large percentage of choices by shying away from flavored.

I feel like my life revolves around steeping. If I'm not waiting for an extract to steep I'm waiting on a juice. I gotta slow down and smell the roses, uugh I mean tobacco.

Ok Boomer...Dark Navy Flake is a maceratin'. I rubbed it out and let it dry for a few hours just out of old habit. Fingers crossed that this doesn't end up being a nightmare to filter. Damn it smells good though. I really miss McClelland Virginias. Filtered the Royal Cajun Special tonight as well. I'm the most antsy about getting to this one.

I hear you. I rubbed half a tin of Orlik Golden Sliced. If it tastes anywhere near how it smells I'll be a happy camper.

Here's another extract recipe. I just cracked the steeped juice yesterday and it's all I've been vaping since. It is TOBACCO with a very subtle vanilla flavor. I'm also going to try cherry and maple with this recipe.

15 mls. 50/50 10 mg. 36 drps. to a ml.

Dark Fired Kentucky Burley - 1.9 mls/12.5%/68 drps.
Green River Black Cavendish - 1.9 mls/12.5%/68 drps. (you can mix this with Red Cavendish at 6.25 mls. ea.)
Full Flake Virginia - 1.9 mls/12.5%/68 drps.
Perique - .9 ml/6.5%/35 drps.
Vanilla ( Hangsen ) - .7 ml/5%/27 drps.

You may want to use ACV at 1 drp. per 5 mls. if it comes on with too much of a bite.

I know the vanilla seems high for Hangsen but it needs to go up against strong tobaccos.

I steeped it for two weeks.

Are these all extracts of yours?

Yes. All are heat xt except the Full Flake which is cold xt. All are 5 gms. per 40 ml 100% PG extracts.VG and nic is added to make 50/50 10 mg. concentrate.

Also, an error in the recipe states you can mix red cavendish at 6.25 mls. That should read 6.25% or .95 mls.

You know it's funny but when I see so many NETizens wanting some Drew Estate Toasted Black Cavendish at $25 for 37 mls of extract, I just want to scream at them. Guys a tin of the stuff, that's 1 3/4 ozs. is $8.50. That will get you at least 800 mls. of extract!

I know people are busy, or apprehensive about DIY, but jeez! Almost 20x the amount for a third of the price, and that's not counting the shipping. Plus, you get to control the density, PG/VG ratio and nicotine content.

I don't know, maybe it's me, but I see it as a no-brainer. Make it yourself. Just try it once. Who knows? Maybe you'll become a master blender who can't keep enough of their creations in stock. :):)

Dude, while I am totally in this same camp of thinking, what's just plain amaze-balls about Diane's extracts is how freaking squeaky clean they are. Not sure if you've tried them, but there's some sort of Wizardry going on in her process. I for one am excited about trying Early Morning Pipe and Artisan's Blend. Two very Latakia forward pipe mixes I know would be black as pitch in my own macerations/extractions. Not to say I won't try my own eventually to compare notes.

As for the Drew Estate pipe blends...a close friend of mine who still smokes, and whose tastes I trust says Jonathan should just stick to cigars. There's a ton of better cavendish blends out there. I'm shocked more NET vendors haven't discovered McClelland. I know it's typically a bit more expensive, but G-Damn they are one of the best American blenders ever. I've got some Royal Cajun Special chillin' in the steep box that I can't wait to get my hands on. :vapor:

I tried MVJ's Pipe Tobacco extracts when diane had first started up. They weren't bad but nothing to write home about IMHO. The Country Squire was good. From what I have been reading there's a lot of interest in her cigar extracts, especially how clean they are. So far, in my short experience vaping I have found, for me, taste means gunky coils. No way around that so far. So I think I'll stick to my extract experiments for now. I just wish I could make myself some Patriot. I sorely miss that stuff and keep finding myself wanting to order some. But that would be breaking the promise I made to myself. No more buying juice.

I want to spring for an Opus X but I also want several other PT's and Cigars. My monthly budget only goes so far. I may have to post some of my extracts in the PIF-Trade Forum. I don't see a lot of extracts there. I'm definitely going for some SPC Mississippi River, McClelland Frog on the Bayou and Navy Flake plus maybe some B&D Bayou Night.

Dustmight if your interested in making a trade PM me.

Got one of these. Makes heat extraction a breeze.

I'd end up having a bunch of power strips with a few dozen of these going at once. Totally not what the fire department recommends. Have you used these yet for extracts? How did it change the overall time?

It gives the perfect temp for extracting. I checked the soup with a thermometer and got 155*F. It's new and I used it on a new tobacco extract that is still extracting. If it turns out okay after being fully cooked and then mixed to get a concentrate, then made into a juice that will need a bit of steeping. Then, I will report my finding. The tobacco is McClelland Mellow Mack.

If it works out I'll do Mississippi River next.

I'm cold steeping a new batch that should be done 1st week of May. Then I'll be ready to send out sample bottles.

Interesting...If I ever find the need to expand my set-up I'll have to give one of those a shot. Btw...I just sampled some of the Dark Navy Flake from McClelland. The added flavors; rum, a bit of vanilla etc. certainly come through. BUT, after a bit of a steep, that signature McClelland Virgina flavor has began to show through. Even mixed relatively low (for me at least 18%) this stuff is as dark as the Devil's netherparts. I ran one extra pass during filtering, just in case, and despite it's inkiness it's very clean. I've got some reserved for ya, and will be ready to trade as well, as soon as I get my bottle order.
