Hello All. I run the eLiquid DIY Nicotine Test Kit website. Due to the recent BE debacle, self testing has become a hot topic.

A little back ground on the DIY test kit being discussed. 4-5 months ago, I receive a 60mg nic (not from BE), which I cut down, which made me sick. After research (on ECF)/testing, it ended up being 100mg. Knowing it was hard to get the supplies in correct volumes/suppliers, I decided to offer the kit as a bundle to help out the vaping community. I’ve always promoted self testing because accidents can happen. And this BE thing is something I never even considered because I thought accidents would happen on a small/isolated scale... woow..

I'm not a chemist, and did not develop the testing procedure. Just merely offering a place to get the supplies easily. And a easy resource with lots of FAQ, Tip/tricks/videos.

Ever since the beginning on eBay, I have ALWAYS credited DVAP and ECF for the procedures, and continue to do so on the web site. I can officially thank DVAP now for his hard work in the beginning.

Kurt, my primary goal is to make the DIY community a safer place. If you have any suggestions/recommendations on the procedure please let me know and I can update for all. And Thank you for the work you've done on the BE debacle. Its nice to have a true chemist around.

Thanks for making this test available. I ordered one, but it hasn't come in yet. I have 3 batches of RTS nicotine that I'm going to test and see what kind of results I get. I expect them to be fine, but I just kind of want to play around and see what kind of results I get.

I also plan on testing some of my juices that I've made, to see if any of the flavors affect the results.

If ordered before Friday, it would of gone out friday or Sat. If ordered Friday or yesturday, will go out Tuesday. Sorry. I did not expect this. Wednesday when this became well know, my stock was delpleated within a few hours. Ordered more with 2day shipping to fullfill orders, and then that went.. lol. Ordered 'a ton' more supplies, and I will be very well stocked by Tuesday. Then you got good old USPS, which I have no control over. Makes no sence. I tracked a package going to california, and took 2 days, and another to CT, which is only 300 miles from Maryland, took 6 days... argg. Then of course you got the fact that USPS doesn't even scan in the tracking bar code 20%-30% of the time. Whats the point of having tracking if you are not going to use it.

Yea, I would like to compile a list of flavors/base nics make the test way wrong or not possible. I personally haven't com across any yet. But I did get a report of a person that ALL his flavors from a single vendor (8 of them) could not be tested at all. We beleive its because the vendor added citrix acid to thier base nic to reduce the nicotine smell. If that is done, PH testing, which this kit is, is not possible because of the citric acid in there.

Is this just a pH test? Bringing a volume to a certain pH and then dividing the results by volume to gain the nic level?

Yes, the basics of the test is measuring the PH. Its determining the amount of acid to bring down the PH to 6.0, then multipling the acid amount by the a calucated number (which is determined by the molecular weight of the acid) I don't know the exact math behind it, but it is explained in the original thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...2-any-interest-determining-nicotine-dvap.html

Just wanted to thank you for the test kit. I used it this weekend and it worked great! It showed ~36.999mg/ml for a 36mg unflavored liquid I purchased (RTS Vapes).

How would the color of an eliquid effect the test? Example testing a green liquid?
