I agree in keeping it simple and not scaring away the new DIY'er and this thread really speaks to that. Great job everyone. I even started a thread "Fly by the seat of your pants mixing" which was inspired by this thread.

With the number of vendors that now exist, there is no reason for DIY juice to be intimidating. Finding a source for flavorings was my toughest challenge...back when dinosaurs roamed the vaping landscape.

Start mixing. Making "mistakes" is actually a fantastic way to find something great you never thought about before and if it's unvapable, it's pennies down the drain.

I still think I lead everyone in mixes poured down the drain. Mostly because I ask "why not" much more often than I ask "should I". It's fun. Better than my old chemistry set from childhood and less dangerous...

Squeezing in VG is actually more accurate then it sounds. I use to measure everything so I know how much the 30ml bottle comes up to when filled. So I just add all other ingredients first then squeeze in the VG to where it should be. Beats having to suck it up with a syringe, especially since my mix is 80% VG
THIS!

OMG I have gotten so lazy with my DIY I now have a "marker" that I line up with my 50ml bottles and make my tick mark on the bottle...No matter how much flavoring I put into the bottle (I do this first now) I know exactly how much base (one of 4 I have premade up with nic - yes - my nic varies between 8mg or so to 10mg) - to add to get to my 45 mls juice.

For anybody who is not mixing and reads this far, consider some additional points. If you don't feel ready to mix consider putting a liter or two of nic in the freezer in case of government interference. A one liter bottle of 10% nic from a vendor like myfreedomsmokes costs $50 (add another $10 for amber glass storage bottles) and has the same amount of nic as the smoke of 5,000 packs of cigarettes. (In michigan 5,000 packs of cigs costs about $30,000.) For at least the next 10 years I won't be paying any smoking taxes or buying mystery juice from vape shops.

The easiest way to get started is mix unflavored, PG, VG, and nic, and use it to dilute the flavoring in pre mix you know you like. I find pre mix tastes better diluted 25/75. I find undiluted commercial liquid to be overpowering.

Yup, my liter of 100mg will last me like 10 years, that is $6 for a years worth of nicotine. For $300 I could have enough nic to last me to till I kick over.

What I do is make a 250 ml of nic base. I use 120 ml of PG and 120 ml of VG and 10 ml of 100 mg nic. Then when I go to mix my juice I add 3 ml of flavoring to a 30 ml bottle and just top it off with my base.

That is an approach to mixing that I use all the time. I make 500mls at a time. It is such a time saver.
