I think we need to talk more about Steeping and Breathing your juices.
Steeping is the process of extracting flavors and nutrients from a solid into a liquid (usually done for teas, beer and wine brewing)
- It can be debatable that ready made Fruity Flavor extracts (Natural/Artificial) from suppliers such as PH require that much steeping (1-3 weeks).
- There isn't much "chemical" breakdown from such extracts to be set in your VG/PG Base, a mere 2 min shake and 6-48 hour steep should be just as good.
- For
dessert flavors such as custards, creams and dairy, a week or two would be more appropriate as the components of the flavor itself is more complex.
Breathing is the process of leaving your
juice uncapped to let fresh air in and release more flavor. (sometimes done in a warm water bath)
- After some research, it should NOT be done more than 12 hours as that will just diminish the flavor and nicotine strength (if added). Same idea if you were to leave out a can of soda out in the open and try drinking it afterwards; it goes flat!
- A good 0.5-6 hours should do the trick, followed by a shake or two and let it continue steeping.
What do you think? hope our vets can share some knowledge on their thought of this..
