Hi Ian,
Thnaks for the kind offer of assistance. I have already sent the thing back. Alex at esauce said he would have a look and if there was anything not straightforward, he would replace the entirel innards with fresh chip etc. It just arrived there about 10 mins ago so I should have some news soon. I'll find out what was worng with it hopefully and post back asap!

thanks again bud

steve

Off topic.. a bit... the USB charger on my rDna 40 bit the dust. The bright side, the mod still works.
If it's the daughter board they'll replace it for $25, if the DNA needs replacing it costs a lot more and probably not worth it with the low price of a new mod nowadays.

It's got a Fatdaddy 510 in it, they probably wouldn't touch it.
It seems to be kind of a short as it overloads my computer's usb's and they continue to provide power but not data until reset or re-start. They're sort of handling it backwards I think.

got hold of titanium and nickel coils for my TFV4. seems like titanium works well. 450 is a pretty warm vape. unlike my previous experiments with nickel were I would like bump to 500 to get a hot vape.

man SMOK really was clever in making the dual coils literally two separate coils. makes the margin for error in readings and installing the coils alot smaller.

so I presume the TCR that steam-engine has is the best one?

Titanium is like 59% the TCR of Ni200 or something like that?, so 450f on Ti would be considerable warmer than 450f on Ni200, unless you programmed in a Ti TCR profile and switched to it while using Ti. On a DNA40 as an example, when using Ti wire I would have to run the temp around 330-350f, where Ni200 would get run 480-500f (somewhere in there)

im posting in a DNA200 topic. why wouldn't I have a titanium profile?

but man the 510 is pissing me of. the coil is supposed to be .33. I noticed if I have the atomizer analyzer on while vaping and when the coils has been used it tend to hover around .34ish. while if I let it completely cool down for like the whole day it hovers around .31. I highly doubt the coils are supposed to be .02 off compared to what they should be. I guess metal expanding is giving the coil head better conductivity and hitting the right ohm load

Ummm if the coil is cooler, it will go down in resistance. Go put your atty in the freezer for an hour and then check the atty analyzer, it's lower right?

That, or you have poor connections of course.

This might be a better option:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QDJ2FUK/ref=psdc_1232597011_t1_B00NSHLVD2

Almost identical for $20 less and 2 usb ports (one for OTG and other to charge tablet if needed).

Oops... this is for in-store only.

I might have to pick one of these up for the price.
Yeah, I've been thinking about getting one for a while. I have a Nexus 7 2013 but for $60 and all the ports, it might be worth it to have a Win8/10 tablet. I did a bit more research and other than the 16gb internal storage, it gets great reviews. I got a free 32gb class 10 micro sd card from Microcenter a few weeks ago that's just sitting in my desk drawer so it might finally find a home today :D.

Yeah, I was just checking out a couple reviews, sounds pretty good. There is a TW801 open box for $80 near me, that one is tempting me twice the RAM and storage for $20 more.

Yeah, that should work as well, only one USB on that one.
Ok so I'm guessing it's micro USB port on the tablet. Do they make an adapter to go up to a regular size USB port, or a USB cable that's micro on both ends? Yes, I know nothing about computers if not obvious.
