Thanks guys, I sucked at math and charts. Guess I see what you both mean, it's the Temp at the graph points that matter. My first TC mod is the ipv D2, and it has no settings other then profiles for Nickle and Titanium. I find I vape at around 500 degrees F, on my Subtank mini rba with a 6 wrap, 26 gauge titanium Unkaman wire, at about .28 ohms. Funny having software, but NO mod yet, Volcano LavaBox DNA200 hopefully will come this week, and I can upload these settings.

Any other basic setting I should concentrate on learning before I get my mod, like pre-fire temp etc.?
THANKS for the help, I'm entering into a new chapter with this tech!

Mactavish,

Don't make to big a deal out of all the settings you'll drive yourself nuts.

If I was you I would leave the pre-heat temperature and the pre-heat wattage alone. The Evolv Factory settings of "5' and 200 Watts are just fine and that is where mine have been from day one

The item that you call pre-heat Temperature is called Pre-heat Punch and that is the only thing that will change the temperature of the pre-heat. The 200 watts is used as needed to take the coil temperature to within 100 degrees F of you TP setpoint or the time you have set (default 1 second) whichever comes first.

I also wouldn't mess with the time setting and leave it at the default 1 second.

Unless you are out Duck Hunting in northern New York you will never ever need or use all the defaults the Pre-Heat can deliver. Also a lot of folks turn down the pre-heat. They read the 200 watts and freak out but as I said the Evolv chip is smart and doesn't ever just dump the 200 watts to the coil it only applies what it thinks is necessary and you would be hard put to find anyone claim they have seen it fire much about 75 watts during preheat. Now this is the time that a guy that works as a Butcher in a freezing meat locker shows up and claims he sees his hit a 100 watts all the time.

Anyway until your usage proves me wrong just come up with a few simple curves for different metals and let it go with that. Oh one thing I would keep an eye on is the battery setting i.e. watt hours, voltage and mAh setting. When you get your LavaBox check and write down what you see. The reason I suggest this is several of the Mod Vendors did not preset these values for the battery they used. My VTbox200 came with the Evolv default of 900 mAh and they had put an 1800 mAh battery in it. Also don't start worrying about this too much either. If it has the wrong values (I think LovaBox is a 1300 mAh Bat) it will not hurt a thing it will just change the way the battery bar shows remaining battery poop.

On the subject of Batteries there is one value I would make sure you change (I will catch some flack on this but trust me). The Evolv default for the soft battery cutoff is 3.09 in my honest opinion is too low and I have mine set to 3.2 (which is a value condoned by Brandon) just as if it was a standard 18650 battery. If you leave this low you can reduce the life of the battery (if your make and model battery doesn't like it). If you take my suggestion and set it to 3.2 volts the worst think that will happen is the battery will will power your device for a little shorter time than it possible could (we are not talking much time here) but your battery will love you for it and live to a ripe old age.

Thanks, all good info a DNA200 newbie loves, and will keep. The LavaBox is a 900mAh battery. But from what I gleaned from the PBusardo DNA200 review, it is THREE 900mAh LiPo batteries in series, thus a 2700mAh overall and 10 Watt hours. Up till now I have been using 18650 bats.

Mac,

Just remember there is a Bat calculator on the eScribe battery page so just use that and you'll be Golden.

hana mod. not dead but revived. the battery was at .93 in all three cells. used recovery in escribe and fixed it. I am sure that is not good for the battery. better the battery than the board. I have no idea how it got so low. apparently it can happen since they have the recovery. strange. if anyone knows how I can prevent that again please let me know.

I said, .93v on all three cells. I figure that is not good for the battery. I have no idea how that happened.

Sorry Nic,

I didn't notice that you said 0.93 volts. You might want to go over to the Evolv forum and ask the experts how that could happen. The DNA board shouldn't have let that happen. Ask James or John what they think may be the problem I am sure that it is hard on the battery and they may be able to make a suggestion what you should do.

Quick question: Is there a place on the web somewhere where you can upload and download different TCR profiles to share with others? I've read a lot about the DNA 200 here on the forums and have my first couple of mods in hand, but I have a really hard time with some tanks and the TI wire I ordered from fasttech. I got steamengine bookmarked, but for some reason the TI profiles I create there and upload to my mods don't quite work. It always jumps out of temperature control, which most likely means the TCR profile is not correct as far as I understand it so far.

It could be that you have some bad connection issues whether it be 510 or posts, something as such. That's my guess as to why it's jumping out of TC mode.

Could you elaborate this a little further, so I can understand what you're saying? Divide what by two, and more important explain why?

Just use the titanium tcr. If you use single or dual coil the tcr doesn't change only the resistance does. You are just over thinking it a little bit. When I first used escribe I was dumbfounded with all the things but after I used it for 30 mins I thought wow that's easy.

It is a rate like mpg it doesn't matter how many miles or what the resistance is the rate stays the same for a given wire.
