I'm not butthurt and I don't even remember most of the 4 mins I wasted on that video. I just don't like anyone lying about a product they have very little understanding of. This goes for other brands too, not just Evolv.

I don't consider myself a fanboy of any brand. Sure, I have brands that I like more than others but I don't follow/support them blindly. I'm a huge fan of Evolv and their DNA40 for various reasons (product, support, service, design). I recently bought a couple of SX350j mods to try out because curiosity finally got the better of me. The first was the SX Mini M Class. Meh. It's heavy and still has sharp edges and my hands cramped and had sore spots (particularly on my pinky) after less than an hour of vaping and I wasn't holding it the whole time. That's the main reason it's for sale (still!!!). So if it's so great, why isn't it selling? I did like the chip enough to get a Boxer with dual batteries. I've used it almost exclusively for the past week and after the newness wore off, I find myself going back to my 8 month old rDNA40 or 1 month old DNA40. And both function perfectly and vape the same even if they're different versions of the board.

Bottom line is the bugs in the SX350j affect vape quality, the bugs in the DNA40 doesn't.
It's still for sale because the people who want it can't afford it :p

Don't really wanna get in debate about a stupid video, but i can assure you there is not a single lie in first 4 minutes. But i understand your reaction, since you obviously like dna's a lot and he was being quite sarcastic about the whole hype around it..i loved the part about busardo and tripper though :D
sorry for OT, please continue, and fingers crossed you get yours soon :)

I heard they officially released the sale of the board 6/27 at 12a.

It's not like these are Xboxes and every Walmart or BestBuy is carrying them so it's highly unlikely you'll be able to walk in anywhere to pick one up. Protovapor does have them and are available now.
Evolv DNA 200D (retail box) | Protovapor.com

From Protovapor's website:
PLEASE NOTE: This product is in technical pre-release. What this means is that while anyone can purchase the board, it is still in the last phases of development and there may be less complete documentation and a higher number of software changes and updates than when the product is stable and fully released. Quantities are limited. Evolv’s official DNA 200D page is here. This is a must-visit for early adopters.

Wise words of appreciation of "brands" are heart-warming but you're not really expressing your preferences of one board to another, merely complaining about the form factor and hand cramps...

The SX Mini M and Boxer both use the SX350j chip. The only thing I really like about the SX350j is the auto orientation screen. I liked it enough that I wanted a mod with the chip in my small collection. Just this morning I replaced the batteries and all my memory slots reverted to default. It also took 6-7 clicks to turn on (usually 5 clicks to turn on). I've had it change memory settings after exiting the menu too.

My preference? The DNA40 hands down. It doesn't buzz or change my settings. I don't need to set my resistance since it does it for me. My vape is the same every time I pick it up to vape.

Honestly my experience with the DNA40 hasn't been very positive. it coming out of TC. no resistance lock so sometimes it would randomly change resistance and mess up the readings. my mod looks like .... but that is mostly on VS. I think it's a V3? the version when they added the reverse battery buzzer but before the big screen.

urgh screw it. I am buying a DNA 200. the software upgrade should make it safe in terms of glitches. time to mess with making a box and probably fry the chip somehow.

I see a lot of people saying that 200 watts are not necessary , so here is my question/statement. Is it possible that with other types of wire (Ti, SS) that you may be able to use a thicker wire and need some higher wattage to get that thicker wire to temp quickly? And evolv is actually thinking ahead? I remember my first Raptor box and wanted to use all of the 120 watts. So I built big 3mm coils with 24g kanthal and it took all of that 120 to get it to fire quickly. If I would take that same build and put it on 50 watts it would take alot of time to heat up. So I could see how 200w may become useful in the temp control game as we start learning more about it. Hats off to evolv for thinking ahead.

You may be right Droopy but I use 26 Ga on a DNA40 and it will put out more clouds than I can handle. My normal power level is 25 watts much more than that and a straight lung hit will leave me a little breathless. Remember these newer units with "Boost" get to temp pretty darn fast. On my SX if I turn the Boost to "Powerful+" it actually startles me when the vapor comes out pretty warm.

What you're (and many, many others are) experiencing is an issue with either your atomizer, coil or mod (unlikely with VS). Because of the screen glitch, any anomaly is blamed on the chip and/or Evolv and that it's a glitch when it isn't and it's actually working as designed. Just because it's not working the way YOU think it should doesn't mean it's a glitch or bug. I ran into a few issues that others were having but I knew how to fix it because I was following the DNA40 threads and reading the issues others had and how they fixed it. I know I didn't build perfect coils when I first started and had my share of .5Ω coils with 8 wraps  . Once you can admit that it's probably an issue with your atomizer or even your build and work on fixing the issue you have, you'll enjoy the DNA40 more. Of course there are very few isolated incidents where it really was a faulty chip (I think there were 3 that I've read about) and Evolv stepped up in a big way. When the screen issue started, they were taking anything with a DNA40 and fixing it free of charge. They weren't set up to do that so lead times were long but I doubt you'd see any other chip manufacturer do that. One of the main reasons I will always support Evolv is because of their customer support and their participation in the enthusiast crowd, not to mention the make the best chips out there.

Agreed.... But when running my SXM on airy RDA's I'm usually at 50j powerful+ mode. When using my Derringer its a bit lower. But recently I started using twisted nickel/kanthal builds and noticed its taking longer to heat up. These are with 30/28 gauge wire. So taking that into account I could imagine that ,lets say, 24/22 gauge Ti is going to need double that push to get moving. I'm just thinking what may be coming with the new wires we are finding.

Honestly my coil building is fine. in terms of the coil itself no issues. I never understood why people were so "omg nickel is so hard to work with". It is more springy but honestly I have a easier time making spaced coils than perfect microcoils. my biggest issues was the DNA40 for some reason refusing to go into TC. I would have it set to a temperature but would always turn into wattage. it was weird. I mean when it worked it was great it really was but it was a hassle after a while. The paintjob on the VS and the single 18650 kinda turned me off from using the mod anyway.

FAST ramp up and vapor production. No need (or even the possibility right now) for long hits. I also think attys will catch up with more available power as more and more Vapers get more powerful mods.

Check this guy lol. 400 Watts.

so I have been looking around for lifepo4 batteries. ........ these things are hard to find in europe. also is it me or are these things big? hell I keep on finding this zippy brand and length wise its like 140mm long. I can't even find a enclosure that long. or I am completely looking at this wrong.

Hobbyking has EU warehouses if you haven't tried looking there already.

It's going to be very hard to find these batteries in the form factor you're looking for. Almost all the flat packs are long thin packs that are little big for mod use. But these batteries are quite common in round 18650 style. Maybe that would work for what you want to do with them.

Yeah found them a minute ago. well seems like I am out of luck using lifepo4s since anything decent involving those has them be pretty damn long. man I would of prefered staying away from lipos but I guess I will have to deal with it.

I have never seen round lipos let alone lifepo4s. hell I am looking around and the only thing I see are flat batteries.
