My nephew is a professional Linux kernel developer (he also did some work on the XNU kernel) and he also worked for some big companies like Intel and IBM. He made a post on the Evolv forum (using the nickname Vaper) and offered Brandon and John to port the EScribe software to Mac and Linux and also maintain it. He didn't even ask to be paid for it but they aren't interested in an out of house port done by a volunteer. It's their loss (and of everyone using Mac or Linux.)
They may already have something in the works.

I had planned to go pre-built but now going to build my own, got enough info now mainly from here, to buy what parts I need the first time. I'd order today but must wait till next payday, I hope some boards are still available by then. The box was my biggest questionable piece.(still is really)

I'm doing both. I ordered 2 DNA200 boards and will be ordering a VS DNA200 when it's available. I figured by the time I get the boards, the enclosure and battery layout would be figured out. Worst case, I run it on a motorcycle battery :w00t:

E-flight makes one of the better 2c batteries that will fit the variant, pretty safe choice.
So it's set which battery I'll choose. Not overwhelmed by the 800mAh but it should last a full day.

Same here. Wanted to go with a Hammond but I don't like that you see the screws and that they are not completely rectangular. But I found this box: Alpinetech G+ CNC Milled Aluminum Enclosure 1590G Hidden Magnet Holes-- Inches (4.06" x 2.05" x 1.06") mm (103mm x 52mm x 27mm) - - Amazon.com

I decided to go with the one from Shapeways. Looks nice, price is okay.
Now I have to convince my wife that I have to spend min. $150 on a box.

I only found 1 vendor in the US selling the chip yet. I hope they will still be in stock when I order.

That sucks, one more reason to dissuade me from buying this. On the other hand, it's their product and their right to manage it as they want.

I can understand them not wanting to give the whole software to an "outsider". So far the DNA200 looks more or less like a gamechanger for TC and vaping in perticaular.

I've gone weeks or months not buying anything. Then I go on buying frenzies. Overall, I'm still spending less than I would smoking so it's ok. I finally sold that SX Mini M. I also sold a Cloupor DNA40 small screen and a buyer for a DNA40 sm screen board because I have way too many mods. So sell 2.5, buy 3.

I've been going back to my rDNA40 every time I bought a new mod for the last 8 months. That's the main reason I want the VS DNA200. My VS DNA40 is my go to when I go out but every once in a while I take the rDNA40. Both great mods.

What is your real reason for posting here? You clearly don't like Evolv and bash them every chance you get regardless of the truth.

Read the exchange and you can guess what the real reason is.
Ehm. Do you want MY opinion? Guess not. :p

It'll be in the mail tomorrow :p
No hurry. My rDNA is already on its way to Miami and my mini VF works quite nice atm.
Damn. I need more TC mods.

I'll shoot the DNA200 chip on payday. I work in a body shop so no shortage on car batteries.

My nephew was willing to sign a NDA and being a professional, he's not going to risk his reputation by making Evolvs software public. There was zero risk involved for Evolv and a lot to gain. It was pretty dumb of them to decline his offer.

I honestly did not mean to troll. I should not have said all that. my bad. yes, I am like the most unlucky person in the world. that stands true. I was actually struck by lighting on my boat not kidding. as I did say however I hope they knock this out of the park this time. I sincerely desire a us company to be on top of their game. rest assured I will buy one regardless. I just can't help myself. I do want to support them regardless. I doubt most of us use 200w but the other advancements in this technology are very welcome by myself at least. I just really did not mean to air my dirty laundry or at least I did not mean it to be taken as such. I also am not sure if there is a new rule on this forum that all posts must stay strictly on topic. if so I really do apologize again. I really do look forward to devices with this chip hitting the market. in fact, as I said I truly hope hana adopts it. to be completely honest I don't need to share this but I got cited for hoarding. I did not really willingly toss them. they worked alright if used properly. the problem I ran into was scrambled screens. I did not mean to offend anyone. I know this again is ot but I thought I might save face here.

that being said I am anxiously awaiting this product to be placed into mass market mods. that's why I entered this thread in the first place. some bugs are commonplace in all software and I can live with many of them so that is okay by me too.
