Hey All,

I heard that rumors were afloat at vapebash of an MVP V3 with a dna 30 board and a new battery. This would be my dream mod -- the vapor shark is a bit too small for my taste (i'd be primarily using my kayfuns), while the Opus D is just too expensive for me atm. If this new MVP is relatively affordable, I think it'll be huge! Has anyone else heard about this?

And so, I just can't now get my mind off the prospect. In an effort to find more details about the rumor, I stumbled upon a few people who have actually modded their mvp v2's with both dna20 and dna30 chips. I'm now considering trading my heavily modded VTR for an MVP V2 on the classies and getting right to it. But first, a couple questions regarding the v2's battery.

The first time I heard of the conversion, it was done by a guy on Reddit who, as of now, isn't considering doing this for others because he's unsure about the mvp's battery and how it would handle lower resistance builds at higher wattages. His instructions can be seen here: http://www.reddit.com/r/electronic_..._and_gentleman_i_present_my_mvp20d_mvp_dna20/
Has anyone here seen any more comprehensive, step-by-step pictorial tutorials for this? I've Googled to no avail.

If I do this, I'm going to try to install a liPo battery similar to the one in the opus D. Anyone have an educated guess as to whether that sort of liPo would fit in the mvp box? I have no working familiarity with the MVP at all. Does this, for whatever reason, sound absurd?

If I sound exceedingly ignorant, it's because I am; no worries: I have a few buddies who are electricians and could probably do this kind of conversion in an afternoon.

Thanks much guys!

It'd be a tight fit to replace battery and chip with buttons... if you're going to do all that, it would be easier and better to get a box to make it all...

If the mvp3 is like hana/no threading sticking on top, I'm so down for it. My v2 got ran over, and it still works.

I have to check the specs of the mvp v2 stock battery. If it can handle res of .5 ohms at even 20 watts --which i kinda doubt, as I think it's a 2900mah Lipo batt (then again I know nothing of Lipo battery tech)-- I won't need to replace it at all. As I mentioned, the reddit guy didn't replace it. I wish I could contact him directly. Some guy on YouTube who did it with a DNA20 with the help of some local brick and mortar tinkerers doesn't seem to have replaced the stock mvp battery either. Any insight re this would be much appreciated.

I agree 100% with this. I don't think it would be worth the hassle of tearing up an mvp. Might as well build one from scratch. Take a look at the Hammond boxes. I think a lot of modders use those.

I also agree about the no threading sticking up on top. I was actually going to make a mvp3 wishlist thread awhile back, even though I don't have an mvp2. Haha
