I'm opinionated AND drive a MINI Cooper so I do fit into the "different category! LOL Seriously, the Blu was a convenient starter (YES overpriced) and I found out very quickly that the prefilled option was way too expensive yet had I not been so opinionated and stubborn I would have given up because of what I percieved as people telling me I had made such a dumb choice. Being a very petite lady of 5'2" and under 100 pounds I STILL do feel that I need the Joye 510 (manual) when I'm out in public, I still don't feel comfortable using the Riva because it's just not the right size for me to be comfortable when around people who are not aware of PV's. Put me on home turf and you can watch me fog up the room with my Riva and a Resurrector! LOL

All I'm saying is we can put things in a kinder way and lead the horses to a greener pastor without hitting them with a whip. :)

Hi SkeeterGirl. I didn't mean to sound mean, just kind of stating fact. Many, me included, have opinions on what works and what doesn't, and of course, those are just opinions to add to the mix. Just as there is no collective choice of juice that will satisfy everyone, there are no hardware combinations that are one size fits all, either. For a first PV though, most agree that the Riva 510 is an excellent way to enter the world of ecigs at a low cost with high quality and an almost limitless variety of options in atomizers and cartos.

I wish I had listened to the masses before going through $200 worth of hardware, only to settle into the Ego/Riva family. I think of all the juices I could have had for that chunk of change!

I totally agree DavidP, I could have skipped paying out too much money and used it for other goodies. The problem here is during searching for e-cigs you get all of those MIRACLE high priced prefilled convient top rated as #1 sites coming up first! Sounds good and yes it did work to put me on the right path.

HOW do we get this forum on the top of all electronic cigarette searches... that would be a great mission for us! (just another opinion)

You keep posting daily to keep it freshened and users click "What's New?" on the menu line in the page header and then click "Today's Posts". The threads with the latest posts will be at the top of the list. You can also click "My Posts" to see who has replied to threads in which you posted. It's a good way to check and see if there's activity in threads you posted in.

Lots of those sites pay Google to pop up high in the results list that matches things you search for. I sometimes find better matches on page 2 of the results.

I first found ecigs on a page that looked like a news TV station web page. The reason I clicked on it was that the headline read, "Tthe Truth About Electronic Cigarettes". It led you through a video where a TV journalist volunteered for a program to test ecigs. Her mission was to expose the hype and propaganda, but after a few days of vaping, she quit smoking. All her TV studio co-workers couldn't believe she quit.

Then, they hit you with the offer for a free electronic cigarette. You give them your credit card number and they send it to you with a few cartos. In the fine print, you give them the right to send you cartos and charge your credit card as needed, without your request. I didn't bite and came here to read up and become educated. I was one of the lucky ones. I understand that it takes forever to stop and some people have had to go to their credit card company and block charges so that the company can't create further automatic orders from you.

I almost fell for that exact same scheme with the TV lady and all...

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about, people who are desperate to quit, especially when you've tried the gas station disposable and saw that it could work like I did, you don't know any better and read all the hype and get all excited. Thank Goodness I only went as wrong as the "Blu" and didn't get more embarrassed by falling for the free trial scam.

Makes me so upset about it! I'm not a kid and I'm fairly intelligent yet I couldn't find better answers until I KNEW there had to be something better and started that search which landed me here.

I like to hype the Riva 510 to new vapors who are looking. I have one, myself and bought one for my BIL. It's a great price at less than half of most Ego kits. It's a true 3.7v vape, and the architecture is open to enough accessories to keep anyone busy for a long time.

I just bought a $35 variable voltage mod from Madvapes today. It gives you full 0v-7v variable voltage control and fits 510 thread atomizers. It's not pretty, just a battery box with a connector for an atomizer and a push button and a voltage control wheel. It doesn't even come with an LED! It gets rave ratings from everywhere for its performance and stability. It will be my first venture into the world of variable voltage.

Personally (imho) I don't want to focus on the money I spent even if it was considered expensive because I am doing something nice for myself here and because I expect to probably buy several more in the months/years to come if I decide to stick with my nicotine addiction.

No, I do not have alot of disposable income but I also do not let others tell me what/how to think either. We are not all alike and with the # of choices of e cigs out there, I don't see how anyone can get it "right" the first time.

I have not had the problems with the Greensmoke batteries as others and am not sorry I bought them because they ARE serving the purpose for which I intended them regardless of the money spent.

In other words, I am not sorry I bought the GreenSmoke and don't put alot of weight on others opinions because I am the one to make mine for me. Otherwise, it ain't no big thing.

I took a risk and am happy with it.

    Peace (literally)

    Jen

Maybe we could add the word 'vegetable' to PG it'd make people realize it's OK too. I think it's the word 'vegetable' that makes everyone think it's a healthier option. Sort of funny when you think about it. Cigarettes were pretty organic (before all the chemicals and stuff) and look what that did to us.

For me it's not about "names".

The word organic has many different meanings. Calling PG organic and claiming it's the same difference as VG doesn't mean that it is the same.

To me, VG is closer to the organic make-up of the human body. Not identical, just closer than many other things called"organic".

Crude oil is organic, but I wouldn't vape it :p

I surely wish that PG enthusiasts would grant that there are people who are sensitive and/or who don't care for PG.

Otherwise it's sort of like menthol smokers knocking non-menthol smokers.

Or non-smokers knocking smokers and vapers. At least, that's what it feels like to me.
