My typical rides aren't all that hilly. It was something of a surprise to find how much I use nearly all the gears. It's more an issue of settling into a cadence of pedaling and maintaining that no matter what speed you're riding at, plus having some low gears for hills.

As to whether your old bike is worth trying to sell, I'm afraid I don't know anything about that. I do notice some interest in vintage bikes, but that's about the extent of it. Maybe try to find similar bikes on e-bay and Craigslist?

Thank you so much for that link one the brakes Whistle_Pig! I went out, and adjusted them as it said to do.( I did move it back to the back tire again.) Within 15mins I now have a working brake that really can stop me now!

It's been kinda scary at times without anyway of really slowing me down.lol

I went on my first trip to the grocery store today. That was a little different having that big of a load in te front basket. Yet, it worked, and the glass coke bottles just rattled away lol.

Take a look at the Electra Townie while you're on there. The frame is shaped slightly differently, with a top tube that is less "rack-able.". Men's and women's models have the same frame design, if I recall correctly. They're also designed to let you sit "flat-footed" when at rest, which provides similar anti-rack properties.

:)

Edit: beautiful old school bike, by the way.

Now that is retro! I had one of those generator lights when I was a kid. Early 70's. Interesting thing is, Shimano now makes a generator hub.

Glad you got your brakes working. I have memories of crashes ...

It's an OLD light, I found some bikes from the 70s I'm thinking(educated guess). Took them home, and took off the few things I needed:p I just need to find about handle brake to fix the front brake, and I would kind of like it to match the other handle.

I'm REALLY digging this bike now.....It's VERY retro!

I was looking today at some internal gear bikes/hubs you can just buy. They are really impressive to say at the very least! They have them up to 14 gears now(granted that one is about 1,400USD:p). What's really cool about internal gears is you don't have to be rolling to switch them.

Thanks for the complements on it BTW!
