Hi,
I'm a newbie, and just started using e-cigs. I spent hours on the internet researching..and I too came across those free offers. READ the condition section...that is where they spell out how the free offer works. I decided after reading it that that was not the way for me to go. (I just noticed above "The Truth Behind Vapor Sticks" under advertisement is the one I was refering to) As a newbie (and now on day three quitting anologs, I believe is the term seen on here) I opted to buy the 510. Thought it would be a good beginner e-cig...but in my anxious desire to try one right away I found a smoke shop that sells some. After purchacing an inexpensive one...I looked the brand up on the internet only to find it doesnt exsist...may now be under a different name? If it hadnt been for Johnny Depp useing one in the movie "The Tourist" I may never have found out about these!! Anyhow..I love it and cant wait to get my "new" one.

I regularly listen to a certain talk show on the way home from work. One day last week I called a toll-free number from my mobile phone and hasd to listen to this long drawn-out trivia before the agent would get to the bottom line. I disconnected the call in disgust nad continue to be apalled by the indifference to people's situations. There's nothing wrong with making an honest profit, but the tactics described above are not new and not unique to e-cigs alone. As a rule of practice, I don't trust anyone who cannot be up front about costs in the very beginning.

Glad it worked out for you dill, but I am always skeptical of anything where you "just pay postage". Unfortunately, a lot of the 'scam' organizations use the postage/processing charge just to get your CC number. Then send you more products later and charge your CC. (anyone who has ever ordered 'free' video professor software will know what I mean).

Hopefully the free appolo offer is not this type of scam, but I would watch you CC statement closely for a couple months just to be sure.

It looks like Apollo had to discontinue their offer for a free disposable for first time customers.

Apparently, the FDA hit them and seized some shipments...

I got the Appollo free offer for only $1.17 for the postage.I am angered that they had to stop due to FDA interference!!!! I credit Apollo with my son's decision to try E- cigs again. We found the devices I use are to high voltage for him but the Apollo cig was perfect in taste and strength. He will turn 21 in March and I'm so thankful he won't be living life as a smoker!!!

Hey, I'm new here, been ecig'n for 2 months now-Started with the x-hale02 from 7/11, got kinda turned off on the "minty" menthol flavor, mixed with the burning plastic taste from the cart...Then I saw a "trial offer" for DirectECig-$50 starter kit for "shipping" costs of $4.95, "NO REOCCURRING CHARGES"---B_S---after 2 weeks-DING! $100 for 30 cartridges. I immediately reported the charge as a fraud and contacted the "company" to get my refund. Then they nicely explain that I signed up for it with the trial offer. Long story short-I was refunded, canceled the card so they couldn't charge it again, and got to keep a "1 Month's supply" of trash cartridges. I am so glad I didn't buy these. The 10 carts that came with my kit would only vap for the equivalent of about 4 regular cigs, then nothing. The month's supply I received were the same way-except for 1 box of 10-they were awesome, could vap 1 cart all day for a day and a half-all the rest, 5 good draws if im lucky. Keep in mind-I've been a smoker for a long time, so I know its not my pristine lungs over-powering the vap. You look into some of the unused carts and they are almost dry, others are dripping almost. So my plan is to reuse the spent carts(which look like the njoy 501 or something-silicon "plug" type cap, no foil on the inside). I assume that I could buy some ejuice and drop a couple drops in the spents and cap them back til I'm ready to use, for a couple times each. I am actually trying to quit smoking, so I'm trying not to invest a bunch of $ into this venture. Any suggestions?

You are on the right track my friend.Refilling carts and cartos is what most do i believe. I'm on a fixed income so I refill all!LOL! Your biggest challenge will be finding your go to juice.I still buy samplers and most vendors sell them or small Trial sizes of 3-5 mls.If you like the juice in the cartos take note of the mg. first then shop around for some flavors that sound good to you. You'll find this forum invaluable for recommendations on flavors etc. Replacing the filler in cartos is simple and their are several ways to do this. The new clear cartos are getting great reveiws here so you may want to research them as well.Above all never fear to ask questions;the support you'll find on ECF is invaluable.Good luck and welcome....Gramakittycat ps..alot of vapers in Texas;check out local get to gathers and vendors.

This is a good site with a lot of good info. There's just so much... I too got ripped of my first time by one of those places with the trial, but they also sold the e-cigs on a sister site for outrageous prices. Of course I didn't know that at the time :) A friend and I ordered a "platinum" kit, and we had a 50% off coupon so we thought we were getting a good deal. Long story short, I ended up with one "micro" white battery, one atomizer, 10 pre- filled carts, and a charger. Regular price for the kit was $160.00!! Plus we got 20 extra filled carts for $60.00!! They sold extra batteries and atomizers for $25.00 each!! WOW.

After using it for a few weeks and looking around a little more online, I saw that EVERY other starter kit came with two batteries and two atomizers. Plus they were half the price, even after using my 50% off coupon. Now that I have about six months expierence, have different setups, (mostly 510 and ego's) and make my own juice, I have noticed that about every site that sells the 510 kit, (titan, black manual battery with blue light mostly) sells it at a reasonable price. If someone off the street asks me about e-cigs, either I tell them a website or I tell them at least to stay away from the white "micro" or "mini" ones that look like a real cig. with the orange light. I think a lot of beginners get stuck in this same trap because they want it to look like a real cigarette.

So, if you don't want to get ripped off, at least buy a 510 kit somewhere to start and don't pay more that $60.00 for it. I think pretty much everyone agrees that is the best model to start out with. I wish I would have, would have saved $100.00.

There is nothing wrong with vendors selling at kiosks. I got to try the e cig first hand to expierence how they worked. The price will be more due to expense of setting up in a mall. Yes, I paid too much for my first kit but I haven't had a cigarette since June after smoking for over 35 years. Even though I paid a bit too much I still have saved hundreds of dollars vs smoking.

I ordered from one of the free trial sites. I placed two orders. They billed me and after a very long time when the orders didn't come, I called their customer department. They said that there was no record of the order. She said it must have been misplaced. So I pulled out my second order number and asked that she search the other order, and she said the same thing about the second order. Scam alright. They didn't get much - just the cost of shipping x 2. Some make lots of money a few dollars at a time. You just don't know. I guess testimonies to a site helps, but there's no guarantee that the testimonies aren't planted either. She said the shipping charges were non-refundable.
