Do Not Order "Free Trials"!!!

Hello All,

I am a new member of this forum and happy to be a part of this community.

I would like to give my opinion on the post warning against "Free Trials". There are quite a few companies out there making these kind of offers. I have no doubt that some of them may be guilty of unethical practices. But there are some reputable companies offering high quality products under these programs.

I realize that re-bill offers in general can appear deceptive to persons who don't read the fine print. As consumers we should always endeavor to be as informed as possible when entering into an arrangement with a merchant. Avoiding reading the "Terms & Conditions" when making a purchase can be a very big mistake.

If you are dealing with a reputable company and you know what your rights are, then you can get what you want. If you want to try e-cigs for free and feel confident that the company you are dealing with is reputable, then by all means do so but bear in mind certain guidelines:

1) The offer is not completely free. You will have to pay a very small amount of money upfront.
2) You normally have around 14 days in which to try the product. This 14 days usually starts from when you order the product. If you cancel anytime before the 14 days expires, your credit card will not be charged further and you get to keep the product ( if you cancel the same day order it probably won't be shipped).
3) If you allow the 14 days to expire without canceling you will be charged the full price of the product + shipping & handling. The company will also ship and re-bill you for re-fill cartridges on a monthly basis. You can cancel this agreement at any time once the cartridges have not been shipped yet.

So the bottom line is if you receive the trial kit in good time and try it and don't like it, just simply contact the merchant and let them know that you are not satisfied with the product and are canceling ( remember this has to be within 14 days of the date of the sale or whatever time span is stated in the Terms and Conditions ). If you don't get it in good time ( say over a week but less than the trial period ), contact them and tell them you are canceling since the trial period is almost up and you have not received the product.

When canceling I would email as well as phone to make sure there is a written record. As a further safeguard you could also contact your credit card company immediately after canceling and inform them not to allow any further charges to your card from that merchant.

If by chance you are happy with the product you received then just do nothing.

I how my advice has been helpful.

I agree, i've seen for myself and heard from close friends of poor quality "free" ecig samples eg. poor quality eliquid/suspicious ingredients and performance/breakdown issues with the hardware. Don't let this put you off be smart and do plenty of research as there are plenty of reputable companies out there who, for a small fee will send samples out.

I think most people on this forum will back up, there are more poeple out there who just want your hard earned cash and are not concerned with your health.

TW Tank rocks!!!

Happy vaping

I've seen a lot of these freebies as well. There is also no reason to spend hundreds of dollars for your first kit! I got sucked into that trap. There are plenty of low dollar starter kits out there with PCCs. You can really get started for around 50 to 70 bucks for a decent 510 kit, hello 16 or an ego. Madvapes has them as well as vapehut and eliquidplanet. Although, I just bought a Smok Tech eGo battery that went bad the first day. Does anybody know anything about the Smok Tech stuff? I haven't had much luck with the hello 16 either. I had two batteries go bad but eliquidplanet sent me a replacement that is working so far. The chargers are an issue too. The 510 with a PCC is a cornerstone though. I've been vaping for over a year now and decided to try the bigger batteries because they seem to work better with the LR atomizers.

*gulp* I ordered from some "pay shipping only" site about a week ago, and haven't seen anything or gotten any notice from them. I don't have a credit card charge yet, though. (crossing fingers).

Hello all.. newbie here. I got my very first starter kit from "Breathe Fresh" a little over a week ago the 15th and haven't touched an analog since the 20th. I was satisfied with the "Breathe Fresh" shipment, but in my excitement about finding the new world of vaping (and before I found this forum), I googled e-cigs, clicked on one of the other "free starter kit" links and "paid for shipping only". :(

I'll be vigilant and follow up if there's any trouble.

Here's the site I ordered from, if it helps anyone:

DirectEcig.com
Yeah, they got you for sure.
This is the very definition of the kind of offer this thread is about.

Go to the bottom of that page and click on terms and conditions and you will see this...

At Direct E-Cig, we understand you want to take our electronic cigarettes for a test drive before deciding they are right for you. To make your decision easier, we have implemented our 14 day trial offer. Starting from your original date of order you will have 14 days to determine if you would like to continue with our electronic cigarettes. All you pay is $4.95. Fourteen (14) days after your original order, you will be billed the full kit price of $99.95 for the product that you have already received. As a bonus to you, we will also ship you a full 30 day supply within 24 hours of payment confirmation for FREE, you only pay $9.95 shipping and handling. If you have chosen to receive more than 30 cartridges per month, you will be billed for the additional items shipped to you plus shipping and handling if the additional items will not fit into our standard cartridges package. Please note that delivery time is subtracted from your Trial Period and will reduce the number of days allocated to your Trial Period.

YOU HEREBY AUTHORIZE DIRECT E-CIG (OR ITS PARTNERS, AFFILIATES AND/OR AGENTS) TO CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR THE STARTER KIT AT THE EXPIRATION OF THE TRIAL PERIOD AND FOR THE MONTHLY DIRECT E-CIG MONEY SAVER PLAN MONTHLY FEE AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT DIRECT E-CIG WILL NOT OBTAIN ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU FOR EACH MONTHLY FEE CHARGED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD.

MY ADVICE: CANCEL IMMEDIATELY
