I have not participated in any of the "freebies" because this is the day and age of free now pay later. Which roughly translates into pay alot later and often setting things up in fine print and not in bold face. Good looking out on the heads up for our noobs that may be curious to try an ecig and might ruin their initial experience with it right out the gate!

Add me to the list of those who got curious about e-cigs and stumbled onto one of the "Free Trial" offers. I'm woman enough to admit that I ordered their starter kit for "only" the cost of postage ($4.95). I then discovered the real story behind this waaay too good to be true deal, and immediately contacted them via email. I informed them that I was cancelling my order, would be returning their kit unopened, and requested an RMA number. I also informed them that in the event that any other charges to my credit card were initiated by them, I would contact my credit card company, report the charges as fraudulent, and ask that they recover my funds (which they are more than happy to do). The company replied, stating that no further charges would be made to my account, and that they would even refund the $4.95 I had been charged for postage (Yes, they did refund it to me). They issued me an RMA number, and when I received the package, I returned it requiring signature confirmation. So, yes, it's possible to get out from under a shady deal after a mistake. The best thing to come out of it was finding this forum. Thanks to the information I've read here, I'm now happily vaping delicious juice on a Joye 510. I've found my e-cig mecca. :)

I didn't fall for the free trial scam because, well I read things before handing out my credit info. though after 11 months of dealing with v2 intermittently I kind of feel they aren't much better, I did some research but only about ten minutes worth based on some coupon site. it was a good start into ecigs because of how easy everything was but the cost and quality of cartos finally outweighed any convenience, especially because it was the cost of cartos that stopped me from staying smoke free.

basically doing anything other than filling your own cartos with ejuice is a path to failure unless you're rich.

or if you want this as a hobby I imagine you could save loads with the diy route.

Thanks for the great post. I really feel extremely lucky in the fact that I had a dear friend who had been vaping for over 2 years encourage me to stop smoking and try vaping. She laid out the items that I would need, and why. She talked to me quite a bit about some of the errors that she had made, and problems that she had encountered, and pointed me a great direction. From there it was just deciding when to make the investment into my mod, and as per her advice, finish smoking the analogues I had and start vaping from there. I'd hate to imagine what I would have done without her guidance. Even with this forum, the information on e-cigs is almost over-whelming. I had tried a couple of e-cigs, but had not liked them in the slightest. I too, hope that this sticky and this forum will help those teetering on their first purchase, to make that leap in a good direction.

Prey! Yes! I would have been one of them to, however I first learned about the E-Cig's through friends and family and started buying some things before hearing of these offers. After having been exposed to the vaping I already knew what was working and further more knew what I wanted to move towards for even better results. "FREE!" Didn't sounds so good after all. I'm on my third set up and am still using my 510-T as a back up! My best suggestion for anyone new is to look around you very well, chances are that you will find someone that vapes. When you find someone... approach them about vaping. We're all pretty excited about it, and most of us still have some old stock or extra tips that we could let a person that's interested try them out. And if you can't find someone, try a $30 kit. That's only 3 packs of smokes worth. It works for most and then just think of the savings.
