And the single proof of evidence that supports the E.T. theory???? Evolution is considered to be practically a fact because of the overwhelming amount of evidence that supports it - E.T. on the other hand....

You believe in evolution but cannot believe that life could have possibly evolved somewhere else in the truly unfathomable vastness of the universe, *shakes her head* that really is illogical.

It's a huge step to jump from 0 evidence to claiming that something is highly probable. Again, I'm asking how you guys came to your beliefs? You didn't just decide one day to believe in E.T. did you?

To me it is arrogance that causes people to make claims of probable E.T. life without a single shred of evidence. How can you go from 0 evidence of there being life outside of earth to claiming that it is highly probable? This is merely human desire....

Subjective observation without confirmation through other experimental methods is not solid evidence....

Had you lived in the time of Galileo or Copernicus, you would have definitely been one of the fools who didn't belive them. We're not scientists, we don't have to prove our beliefs to believe them.

Yeah, I called that about 9 pages ago. The worst part is, I can see him smiling to himself thinking he's being clever using a 12 year old's tactic to do what I'd imagine he thinks is clever trolling. A clever troll requires 1 post. Sticking your fingers in your eyes and ears and going "la la la la la" requires a 3rd grade education.

Yes he selectively picks what to respond to, and doesn't pay attention to any that point out the fact that we have the right to believe or disbelieve any dang thing we want, and that we have no obligation to prove or have proof of anything.

The one I posted is just one example - They have been caught many times saying "alien spacecraft" in discussions about something unknown flying around shuttle missions - Why would they not say Unidentified Object? There was a show on the History Channel a couple of years ago that showed a 15 minute long conversation between the Shuttle and Mission Control - They used the phrase "alien spacecraft" repeatedly - Then a warning was given to keep it down and they used more vauge terms such as bogy - I can't seem to find that video right now - They never once called it Unidentified - They seemed very aware of what it was and rather disturbed by it - Orders were given to keep an eye on it and continue to monitor it - Eventually it flew away and they went back to the mission at hand - Space Junk does not fly away - nor does it move in directions that oppose Earth orbit and follow a shuttle - as this one was doing -

Are you trying to say that a Shuttle Astronaut - One of the most highly trained pilots the world has to offer - Is not qualified to assess the flight characteristics of an object he is directly observing? - That even an EXPERT in the field of flight is not capable of distinguishing the difference between a tumbling chunk of unknown junk and a craft of unknown origin flying in a method that displays signs of intelligent control? Or are you suggesting that such a highly trained expert would casually toss out such a subjective summarization in his description of said object in official communications requesting a course of action from his superiors? Overall my reading of your stance and method of debate have lead me to the subjective observation that there exists a high probability of you being a Colossal Douche - While I have no hard evidence leading me to proof that you actually are a feminine hygiene product - There is mounting observational evidence sufficient to warrant developing an experiment that others can repeat to make a final determination - Direct observation by an expert in a field is most definitely evidence - It is not proof and no one claimed it was either - If eye-witness accounts were not evidence there would not be witnesses in court - Observation is the basis of the Scientific Method - The starting point for where to look for the proof and how to design the experiments - You have to test FOR something - be it Alien or be it Douche - ;)

Not gonna post much on this thread, but my two cents:

I think the universe is a big, big place and it would be extremely arrogant to believe we're the only form of intelligent life out there.

That said, as of yet we haven't found any evidence there is, so who knows? I think a lot of things came together perfectly to result in the life we have on earth. Could it have happened elsewhere? Sure. Did it? Who knows? And I don't know all the variables well enough to even make an attempt at calculating the odds. =oP

I sort of hope there is (not that hope affects things one way or the other).

And if you ever see a little blue box flying up there in the sky...you just shout for me. Shout as loud as you can! ^.^

    Hey-
I know this is off topic but that is why I posted it in the "off-topic" chat..

I have my personal views on the matter but was curious if anyone has had their own experiences/encounters or seen something in the sky that didn't look right or know someone that did..

I find Ufology fascinating and wanted to here some other viewpoints on the subject...
    :D

I just bought a Jeep Wrangler on Ebay and had to take a trip to Roswell to pick it up. My husband and I were jokingly talking about seeing the aliens while there and my Mom, who went with us, told us my Uncle saw the alien ship land outside of Roswell. WHAT?
Yeh, he was a Greyhound bus driver, saw disc thing, pulled the bus over and everyone watched it land.

We just had to visit the Alien Museum after that story. Lots of death bed confessions about the incident. I picked up and Area 51 parking permit for my new Jeep.

Land? If it really did happen the story was that it didn't land, it crashed and scattered into a thousand pieces.

I dont believe in either of these in the conventional sense of little green men that visit and steal cows and rednecks and go around probing anuses, buuuuuuuuuut, I think it would automatically label someone ignorant and closed minded not to believe that life (if not intelligent life) exists on other planets. If aliens were to come to our planet being that they were advanced enough to know how to travel thru the vast expanse of space they would also be advanced enough to realize what their technology and our lack of civility would do to both species. We cant live with aliens from our OWN planet never mind little green men. Look around on the internet for examples of what im talking about. Youtube comments for instance or political threads. We are our own worst enemies even when dont know each other. We are still way too primitive and rely on the reptilian impulses of our minds to make way too many decisions for us.
