Yup, I live on the wild side ;)
Let's see, my 1.8 ohm build @ 4.1v that's 2.2 amps. Ya all think I need to switch to 30a batteries!!??

As stated earlier, I started using mechanicals 2010-11. (don't remember exactly when)
That was a time when the end of vaping was a real possibility. So my goal was to find a way to be "self reliant". I still have & use that original mechanical mod. (a Mako Midi) It even fell out of a duck blind once & spent a week at the bottom of a marsh.

The side benefit of that early exercise, is that I found that I could vape for almost nothing. I figure my outlay to vape for the past 7 years has averaged about 25 cents/day.

My favorite mechanical is a hcigar Caravela, and there will never be a day that I use a faux hybrid top cap.

Yep I use Mechs, though I also use Regulated.

Currently the only Mech in my rotation is a neck squonker, but I do have a few tube mods on the shelf ready at anytime.

Why I like them? A couple of reasons -
    1. I'm an engineer, I like engineering problems, and a mech is pure engineering. Right build, paired with the right battery to get the right vape.
    2. They will last indefinitely. Yes they need maintenance (cleaning) and the occasional repair, but I enjoy it (see #1).
    3. The vape is smoother. I cannot explain it, but if you have your mech setup right, there is a difference.
After saying that why do I use regulated at all? I'm a guy and I am lazy. Throw a battery in it, fill it with juice, set the wattage and go? Easier, quicker, doesn't require me to think, and provides me my nicotine (the whole reason I do this - keep of the cigs).

And I have never heard of a regulated exploding in peoples faces. Its always a "hybrid" mech.

Ya, those are my favorite. Those will separate the intelligent from the not so brights real quick.

    BOL.

Mostly mechs but I'm a fairly new user (near a year I think).
so I can't say I notice the nuances in regards to flavour but I mostly enjoy the looks. I've yet to see a regulated device that looks as good as my mechs (not really into those stabilised wood mods either).
I enjoy the skill involved, the simplicity... and the looks.

    Did I say that?
I don't have a great memory and I vape as I'm laying to go sleep so I don't trust myself with the mech when I'm dropping off, that's the only time I pull the reg out, or if I'm in a rush going out with no time to check battery voltage and all that.

Mtl vaping @ 1.2 but I've just got a GP dripper and built half of that!!!

Just to clarify, they are NOT hybrid mechs. They are what is referred to as "faux hybrid". There is a big difference. And faux hybrids can be completely safe, as long as you know the principles (which are INCREDIBLY basic) in the first place.

Society likes to blame the object rather than the user itself. With education, a mech is actually safer than a regulated mod because there are fewer components and therefore less to go wrong. Electronic circuitry can go wrong at any moment (be it a mod, phone or anything else) yet a mech does not have this problem.

Working on a mech mod kinda sounds like working on a car...."Can I get a coil change and rewick, while you're in there, will ya noalox the threads? If ya have time, "Can you buff out that ding and polish her up for me? I'll pay extra!"
    :D

    Yup, and I was a mechanic. ;) (pronounced mech-a-nic)
