Do you explain to those who is give weird looks to you while you vape?

Greetings;

Allow me to share this with you here since it has been an issue to me for a while actually. The first time when I was vaping outside to the area where people smoke (it is Canada so you have to move to a certain location to smoke, even if you are outside, which is ......ed to be very honest.) Now others who are smoking there actually make a weird face and purposely wonder where the smoke is coming from (not their cigarette smoke, but a cloud,) at first I had to explain to them its not a smoke, its a vapor cloud and the term is vaping. This leads to further comments like "Oh it contains so many bad chemicals like formaldehyde," "Do you know they are trying to ban it in US because it is harmful, smoking is healthier and it is a right way to smoke," which forces me to just warn them not to let me tell them what exactly goes in to the cigarettes, because they wont be as pleased. The conversations become longer so I cant post it here. Just two days ago, this guy who walked up to me claiming that I am smoking hasheesh, while I was vaping. Another incident followed by this incident where one of the employees at the airport shouted out that i am holding a detonator and I had to explain to him that its an e-cigarette in fact it is my go to line for every negative comment I get from people. Yesterday I just had it with this person who walked up to me and shouted at me saying "THAT'S ILLEGAL," this just tipped me off the edge and I lost it. This is slowly becoming a problem for me.

So share yours if you like and lets talk about how would you have dealt with such situations.

I won't stand for violence of any kind so that verbal violence by the person claiming it is illegal to vape would have had me whipping out my cell phone offering to call the police for them, since it's illegal and all the police should be involved right? And while we're at it we'll also take care of the uncalled for harassment with the officer as well. See how fast they change their tune. Some people are just nuts, ok whatever we're all different, but I'll be damned if I would let them spew their nutty venom my way. Just give them what they're asking for and offer to call the police for them next time. I'm so glad I haven't had to deal with this crap yet, sorry you've had to deal with all that nightwalker.

Seems like issues like this is rather common, my story is basicly the same. Except that i just try to tell them what it is, if they don't take it in i'll just ignore them.

A simple shut up if they're rude to me. If they keep talking I keep saying shut up more and more sarcastically until they leave me alone.

If they are nice about it, I explain what it is and what benefits they have. If they're a smoker I'll even let them try it. I carry alcohol pads so I clean the drip tip after they leave. They can have my germs if they want them though. No sense in wasting 2 pads lol

Most times I am as respectful as I was when smoking, see a family with kids coming toward me as I am walking, move down wind and out of sight of the kids, things like that. I have had several, be outside away from the flow of foot traffic during a break, vaping away, generally where the smoking area is designated or near it, but a few nosey anti-smokers come right up and begin badgering me. My simple answer, you seen me here vaping, minding my own business, out of your flow of airway, it was you that diverted and came into my space. Like stated above, pull out my phone dial the local PD, and hand it to them, want to push the issue, press the call button and get the cops down here, because it is them harassing you, not you harassing them when out of the way and not in their space.

Thanks a lot for making me choke on my vape. I dont know if it was the choking or laughing that had the tears rolling but anyways....

I been vaping steadily for close to a year and have yet to have a real honest bad experience with anyone on vaping. Usually people are curious about it and this leads to some good discussions. Earlier this year I spent a lot of time confined to a hospital bed and all the nurses wanted to know all about vaping and even with it against hospital policy, they never once said i couldnt or made any kind of fuss about it.

Mostly just do it at home.
If people were too look I'd just assume it was because of my good looks or hairy face.

sorry dude but I am a vaping, coil building, dripper using grandma and I suggest you bring your gear to the home so that the old folks can learn how to vape instead of smoke

No way dudette! If someone is old enough to be in an old folks home then God bless'em and let them keep smoking. They've run a good race and don't need to be bothered with quitting smoking if they enjoy it.

I do think there has been some confusion regarding just exactly what was being vaped ie other inhalables. my last experience was at the Halifax international airport. The security person told me I couldn't smoke there - I said it is a vaporizer - he said "smokers will light up, there is the smoking area over there" he seemed somewhat apologetic - I replied ( with a toothless granny smile "you are sending me over to have my AA meeting in the tavern" he shrugged. I walked over to the smoking area blowing big whomping clouds - the smokers basically ignored me but I didn't like the smell, however had any of them asked I would have given them my song and dance- I was a smoker for over 40 years and told them about my DIY and a buck a week to vape.

I also made sure everyone could see just exactly how much I was enjoying myself

not the case, doesn't happen, cigs are taken away, restricted and only and I mean only if they can tottle out doors with their walker would they ever be permitted to smoke. it is extremely abusive to the elderly and one of the things that broke my heart when they tied an old guy to his bed because hewantedto get his pipe.

Did you take an off ramp I am unaware of? There have been plenty of people who've made it to an old folks home who smoked. Unless of course, you think you're experience is universal and applicable to all. Perhaps Nova Scotia is much more totalitarian place than the down home, friendly place called Chicago where I live.

Iv only had 2 encounters in public recently.
1 was at a park with 1 other person their. He asked "wheres that cotton candy smell coming from?" I owned up to it and he was intrigued but didnt ask much about it.

2nd was at a concert (about a year ago, recent enough for me) and they guy was like "what the hell is that", he was interested in the size (my lavatube with a kayfun on it so it was pretty long) told him and he was comparing his ego/ce5 to it haha.

No bad comments so far and i dont really pay attention to people so maybe some looks but who knows.

I had a guy in a bar with a cigar in his mouth threaten to beat me with a pool cue if I didn't stop poisoning his air. I can't post his exact word or my exact response in a family-friendly forum, but it was hard to explain to the cops how the pool cue in his hand ended up broken over his head after he swung it at me. No i was not, and it wasn't a conversation it was me shouting back at him stating that its my ecig. It's Pearson Airport in Toronto sir, Police doesnt show up unless they have a probable cause or you telling them that you are bleeding to death.
