I get very strange looks & just today 2 ladies threatened to call the police. OK, fine call them [obviously I didn't say it but I'm thinking it]. I'm outside, ppl are smoking 15 feet from me. I live in a small town of 2,000 ppl & unfortunately vaping isn't popular or even well known around here. I just explained what it was & so on... They left 5 minutes later & I seriously expected the police to show up, never did!

Raining after a movie with the kids so my sons GF and I stood by the door of the theater while my son went for the car. A group of teens not old enough to be driving yet seemed to be waiting for their ride. She and I both had our vapes out puffing away and one says "Hey, is that a hookah pen?"

In my best Rosanne imitation... "No, it's {OTHER STUFF}. Does you mother know where you are?"

Suddenly I wasn't the target of their attention anymore.

I thought my sons GF would pee herself.

i used to get that everytime on the rare occasions that i would smoke rolled-up cigs...No one would ever believe it wasnt {OTHER STUFF} and would come ask me for "a drag"....SO STUPID really as OF course anyone can smell "other/illegal substances"...and IF you were vaping that stuff(CAN it be/is it done even?) EVERYONE around u would surely smell it...Just dont pay attention ;)

I live in California, I get this all the time, especially around smokers... For some reason, non smokers are more accepting of vaping than smokers. I have found an easy quick shut them up responce. Ask them if they added some {OTHER STUFF} to their cigarettes, if they say no, then ask them why they think that you would blatantly have disregard for the law when they don't. Just because I decided to stop putting tar and poison in my body doesn't mean that I became a druggie that needs that in my system all day. I need nicotine just like them, I just found a better healthier delivery system!

*****btw, not talking crap about those that enjoy their "meds" (medical legal in cali)*****

Sorry bout that sonicdsl, I didn't realize that was breaking the rules, I will be more careful in the future

You know I went to the hardware store the other day. I just had my vape pen in my pocket not vaping. When the store owner said to me so your a vapor don't you know those things will kill you. I replied back and said that they might just do that only slower. Then I asked if he would prefer me to smoke or vape his reply was they are both equally bad for you. My reply to him was cigarettes kill 400,000 - 500,000 people every year e-cigarettes have been used in the United States since 2003 and not one reported death from them. He just turned and walked away I tried to talk to him some more on the subject and his reply was I don't want to discuss it anymore. In my own opinion vaping is much better than smoking. I quit in January after my second heart attack and 2 more stents. On 7/14/2014 my heart Dr. said my lungs were clearing up and not rattling any more. Don't have to see Dr. for a year and yes we did discuss my vaping with good results. We as vapors have to get the public educated on this subject because they are listening to people like Professor Glantz and others who carry the big titles.

I was at the casino with a friend a few weeks back and we were eating and a lady sitting next to me was literally laughing at me using my MVP2 and I heard her ask her friend "what the hell is it?" Well she finally asked me about it and I patiently explained it to her and when I was done she was actually really interested and said she was going to get one.

Initially I was expecting a much more negative response as, outside of work, there was not much of a vape culture here in Portland OR when I switched. However I have only gotten one comment from a non-smoker who was curious after expecting to smell cigarette smoke walking past me and instead got apple pie.

As for the smokers, the majority have shown interest instead of ignorance.

That's me! 6'2" 280lbs, Full Beard and Mohawk.

Ha, same here, except no mohawk. People don't really mess with me or give me crap too often. Besides, living in Cali, that other stuff is everywhere. I'm probably the least of their worries. I mean it's pretty obvious when people are.

I live in San Diego, but I haven't really gotten any negative comments...yet anyway. There's always that one jackass that has to speak up.

In fact, the reaction is quite different. Couple weekends ago I was downtown at a bar and one guy asked me what I was vaping, Told him the flavor and his wife chimed in and said "OMG smells so good, smells like funfetti cake!" (it was gremlin juice vanilla custard).

Same night I switched my juice to Freckled Lemonade from Mt Baker Vapor, and a really pretty girl walked up to me at the bar patio and said the same thing "WOW you smell delicious, what is that?" Let's just say I didn't mind her talking to me lol. Although I laughed at her when she asked me if I had a lighter so she could smoke a "real" cigarette.

Different weekend, I was in North Park (San Diego) at a bar and I saw a guy staring at me as I vaped. At the time i was carrying my black Provari mini with a kayfun, not the smallest set up ever lol. He finally got the courage to walk up to me and ask what i was smoking. Told him I was vaping some e-juice. He asked me if it helped me not smoke cigs and i told him "if i wasn't vaping this, I'd be smoking a cigarette right now". He kinda nodded and smiled in agreement. He told me he wanted to try it but didn't want to walk around with a giant billy club/light saber lol. I had to tell him there were much smaller compact set ups out there. I'm hoping I encouraged him to ditch the analogs.

Where I come from most people mind their own business. Relatively new to vaping but I've never had anyone get nasty with me. Been rolling my own cigarettes for years now and sometimes it can look like I'm rolling or smoking *other stuff* but 99% of people either don't notice or care. The 1% that do (usually drunk people at bars) I usually just joke with a bit before letting them know it's just tobacco.
