A lot of replies on this thread seem to think vaping is somehow something we should be ashamed of, why? Taking our pleasure in a furtive, lets not offend anybody, manner, is a direct invitation to those hypocritical bigots who have directed their viputrative hatred against smokers ( and lately against the obese) to redirect their guns against vapers, they don't like it? Tell them to shove it. I for one do not intend to become another persecuted minority ........again.

I stealth vape whereever I want... Especially work, the vapor dissipates once it filters through the overhead compartment in my cube - to the point where it isn't even noticed. Not like chain smoking, just a quick hit here and there on a stressful afternoon!

Generally, I follow societal ethics when vaping in public: I don't blatantly vape in airports, malls, around children, etc. However I do sneak a puff here and there - especially in bars. I should probably ask permission in a bar or restaurant, though. I was recently approached by a manager in a bar who thought I might have been puffing a one-hitter. I found it funny because at this point in my life I'd more likely qualify as the "I'm 40, But I'm Still Cool Smoker" than anything else (I put it away on the mgrs request)!!!

I usually follow the same rules as smoking. With all the unwanted attention vaping is get from some groups, I don't want to give them something to complain about, even if it is unwarranted. Although I will say I took my ego into the hospital with me when I had rotator cuff surgery. I knew they were going to keep me overnight since I had a triple bypass not quite 6 months before. I was stealthy in my hospital vaping and they never knew, it also kept me from having withdraws.

I used to smoke at my old job as my boss did not have a problem with it. When I go to bars or anywhere else, I usually smoke outside with the smokers and always have to educate a few people on the e-cig lol. It defiantly gets me some nasty looks sometimes like I am doing something wrong. But I guess the ignorant people will just be that way. I've even had a few people think it is a ......... vaporizer or something and I have to correct them and usually let them try it. Then they tell me they need to get one.

I use mine in public, but I am respectful about it. Regardless of it is safe, or not for second hand, it's just impolite to pull it out in a movie theatre, or restaurant and causes unwanted attention.

Why do you think it's impolite?

I haven't had one single objection or dirty look anywhere I've vaped. Last night, that included vaping a fine restaurant, a smoking bar, and a non-smoking bar where nobody knew me. I didn't ask for permission anywhere and was seen by staff, management and fellow customers. It didn't attract any attention at all, let alone unwanted attention. I suppose it's possible that all three of those establishments had already found out what vaping is, but I doubt it.

Come to think of it, the only places I've ever gotten curious questions were both in bars where smoking was allowed.

Happy New Year!

This guy from a Dutch forum was just openly vaping in his hospital bed. That was pretty funny to see a picture of him vaping in his hospital bed. :D The staff didn't mind and were quite enthusiastic about it being such a great alternative to smoking. He was vaping a small 16340/CR123a no-nonsense mod, made for people with arthritic hands, that somewhat looks like an old oilsquirt.

The only thing that changed was that I started vaping in my room. When I'm at work, I still go outside to vape as if I'm smoking a cigarette. I sort of used this as I was quitting as a way to make vaping as much like smoking analogues as possible. Did anyone else do this?
Vaping outside on my breaks at work really helped me feel like was replacing. A nice transition.
