Hi

Long time lurker, small time poster.

So im getting into mixing and am looking at a mixing kit over on a website called Flavour Art.

The kit contains a load of basic stuff for mixing and has a price breakdown so you can see what you save for buying the kit (a whopping £3.50)

One of the most expensive parts of the kit is that base liquid, which you can choose your nic strength for. Me and my buddy are mixing 0 nic 100% VG for our drippers. Do i need a base liquid if we are making 0 nic juice, cant i just mix the VG dilute with flavour at a fraction of the price?

Thanks

Just had a look at the site and it seems you're going to be paying £24 for a zero mg VG liquid. The price for VG should be a tenth of that.....
VG - Vegetable Glycerine
You're also paying £2 for a 4 ml bottle of concentrate - 10ml can be had for not much more - £2 to £2.40 - same site as above.
You would also need some distilled water to add to the VG otherwise it would be unvapable - about 10% should be added.

I'm guessing your looking at something like this? If your doing zero nic then like you guessed all you need is vg/pg and your flavorings. This site is calling the nic the base. Over at Nude Nicotine they call a base just the pg/vg but mixed together. So the word usage is confusing without knowing what is in front of you but your thought process is correct. Zero nic means just pg/vg and flavorings.

Thanks for the link! (had to remove it from the quote so i could post) Just ordered their mixing set along with 2 bottles of diluted VG and a few concentrates

Let the chemistry begin....... when it gets delivered

For what it's worth, I only use my own mixes, and my method was to get Boots own label VG (came in a clear bottle with a white and red label with I think a blue cap - circa 200m I think - maybe less).

Anyway - straight VG is too thick - it's a pig to squeeze out juice bottles too - better to thin it down with some deionised water.
Anything really will do - you could make your own if you wanted with a DIY condenser lol - but I just bought a small canister from the local Tesco for a few quid - in the area with all the AUTOMOTIVE stuff - rofl - beside the oil and Magic Trees.

Anyway - I think I diluted it along the lines of 1 part H20 to 4 parts VG - something like that - maybe a bit more VG than that - but that kind of ratio anyway.
I dabbled with using Vodka to thin it out, but that just got me .......

What I did find though is that VG/Water tends not to hold flavour very well - it doesn't stay mixed for long in the bottle.
I have a feeling that PG maybe helps in terms of keeping the flavours at a consistent concentration down the length of the bottle, but given that I never acquired straight PG, I didn't get a chance to try this out...

I mixed menthol type juice - and found also, that the menthol doesn't bind very well with the VG, and really tends to crystalise up when it gets down to a certain temperature - maybe with PG it works better - but I've also heard that PG tends to produce less of vapour...

You're welcome.
And don't forget to put sellotape or clear nail varnish over the markings on the syringes before you use them - the liquids wash the ink off.
