do you still get the urge to light up?

I'm two weeks into vaping after several decades of 2 packs of analogs a day. I also still have the desire and do in fact still smoke one analog in the AM and one before bedtime. I did not commit to totally cease analogs when I decided to try vaping, but wanted to see if vaping and I worked well together. And we do. But from 2 packs to 2 analogs a day...good for me and I believe I could cut the two analogs out now too if I really tried, but as I am beginning to enjoy vaping more delicious flavors and find what level of nicotine works best for me, it's making those two analogs seem more "nasty" and less desirable to me and I figure eventually I won't even want them. I have simply promised myself that I will allow myself those few per day, put the remainder of the pack in a real inconvienient place to get to so it is a "job" to get to them but I still can if I want. Before e-cig, I'd never be able to resist an analog if they were in my house, but I keep the tape out and try to insure I use it enough to keep my nic levels up during the process...and that seems for me to be working. I'd say don't kick yourself for wanting the few you still have each day, but celebrate that you are committed to progressing further towards an eventual zero analogs per day. And don't forget to celebrate the $ you are saving and the health that is improving along the way. You will ultimately achieve your goal. Oh yea, I do keep an extra tank with a little higher nic level that I vape during the rest of the day/night and I vape that right after dinner, sitting in a comfortable location chilling while I vape at that time so that I relax as if it were the old time of analogs...and that helps me resist the old after dinner analog without discomfort

I used to smoke 10-15 cigarettes per day for 9 years, started vaping 4 months ago and didn't have the slightest desire to smoke an analog since then. The only time I smoked a few of them was a Sunday after I ran out of juice (stores were closed), and for some reason they tasted a lot worse than what I remembered. I used to really like my Dunhill though... before.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and am currently down to 5 cigs a day and have been vaping for about 3 weeks roughly. I just cant seem to drop those last 5. 3 of them are with my morning coffee. and the other 2 are after dinner.

How often do ya'll get the urge, and has it gone away totally for anyone yet?

I was a 2 pack a day smoker, and I no longer have the urge to light up. Of course, having a heart attack at age 38 caused by smoking will help discourage me from ever lighting up again!
But, vaping is FAR superior to smoking on countless levels. After a year and a half vaping, there is absolutely NO comparison in my opinion.

I was a 1PAD smoker for 20 years. Been vaping for 13 days. I have had 4 analogs in that time. I need to redo my signature to not be a liar.

I will say that every time I have an analog, I don't enjoy it, it does not make me feel like I have satisfied a craving, I stink and feel a little sick. Even at that, the 20 year habit has me pschyced out into thinking I am missing something.

The fact that it is always a bad experience makes me hopeful that my brain will catch up with my body.

It's great to read all these stories, I keep reading all these posts about "I started vaping and never touched another analog". I've been a pack a day smoker since I was 18, switching about 3 years ago from Marlboro Reds to Camel Menthols. I've been vaping on a cheap little mini for a week or so now, but I still can't get through the morning without an analog. I'm down to 4-5 a day and trying to get lower. I think once my Apollo Extreme comes in tomorrow, with a bit more nicotine in the carts, it will help. I also bought a bunch of other flavors to try, and got those with about the same nicotine as the mini - so I get the choice of different flavors or more nicotine.

I dunno about the rest of you guys, but yesterday I was in a damn bad mood, I bit my boss's head off over nothing (thankfully he's an awesome boss). It wasn't nearly as bad as when I went cold turkey a few years ago, that lasted for about a week.

I no longer have any urge to smoke cigarettes. Vile things. However, a few days ago I did try to light my ecig.

I went looking for a lighter yesterday, thankfully I didn't find one before I figured it out. Then I almost lost my ecig out the car window when I tried to flick the ash off. Those subconscious habits are hard to break!

I didn't start vaping to quit smoking. I'm one of those rare people who doesnt get addicted to nicotine. I've gone from 2 packs a day of Camel Filters to cold turkey the next day without any cravings or issues. I even smoked for quite a while concurrently with vaping. I found that every now and then I feel an urge for the burn a cig can provide, but nothing major. I power watched several seasons of Mad Men a year or so ago and that was one of the only times I really felt a craving. I do have a cigarette every few months or so though, but very casually, like how a non-drinker will occasionally have a beer with a buddy. It also doesnt taste as strange as when first starting to smoke, which is odd. It does make vaping a bit harsher for a few hours to a day afterwards though.

When you get better equipment, the satisfaction of vaping increases, and the need for analog decreases. If the little cig-a-likes is all there was out there, even though I had a heart attack, I'd probably still be wanting to smoke. Thank God for better options!

My last analog was Sept 25th. I had a scare yesterday because I got super stressed out and had to stop myself from driving to the store and grabbing a pack. I sat down and filled up a tank with some strong tobacco flavored juice and after a a few or 10 vapes I was ok.

In my experience, once you start to move away from the tobacco flavors you'll start to disassociate nicotine with tobacco. A lot of people get those quick and intense cravings, especially at first.

Couldn't agree more with this! Find a flavor that you like in every day life, and try that flavor of juice. After a short time, you might not even WANT a tobacco flavor. My wife was a menthol fan and smoked Newports. Now, candy cane flavored juice is the closest thing she gets to menthol and she's totally fine with it.

Well the thing is, I'm a regular cigar and pipe smoker. I started vaping to stop smoking cigs. I love all things tobacco: snus, nasal snuff, pipes and cigars. I just can't stand cigarettes and what they were doing to my health. Does that make any sense?

I started vaping in early 2009, was a long time stalker on the ECF before joining. About 2 weeks after I was vaping and not smoking I had the urge for a regular cig and I bummed one off a co-worker. After I had one drag I didnt want it anymore and threw it away. From time to time still to this day (dont know why) I will get a craving for a real cig but I dont cave in mainly because I know I will have one drag and not want it anymore so whats the point. So it seems like for some they never get a craving which is awesome, but then for some of us its still there from time to time. Bottom line is you only smoke 5 cigs compared to 40 which is a huge improvement so you shouldnt be hard on yourself, you should be proud of yourself. I think as time goes on you might find yourself not needing or wanting those 5 cigs each day the longer you vape, but if not, your still not taking in as much bad cigarette smoke as you were before which is a great thing.

New member here.

I am currently 3 weeks 1 day and 4 hours without a smoke.(with the help of the Quitter app on iphone)

I smoked a pack of Marlboro reds a day for 3 years. I'm only 20 and realized the road I was heading down. I saw myself at 40 smoking 2 ppd and talking through a tube.

I bought my vape and like most people I tried to smoke alongside vaping and it was just meh. I got REALLY depressed. I missed everything about it. The ash flicking, lighting etc. I loved my morning coffee and smokes. I would smoke 3-5 just on the way to work because of how good it tasted with coffee. After buying a new car was when I really vowed to quit because I didn't want smoke smell in my car.

On day 3 of vaping I tried to have a cigarette and it just tasted weird. I put it out after 3 drags (something I would never do 3 weeks ago).

I've already noticed a few benefits. I have asthma and I would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night literally unable to breathe. My vape sometimes gives me a bit of chest tightness but not nearly as bad as the stinkies. I can smell and taste a lot better and I'm no longer ditching family and friends to go have a smoke.(almost no one knew I smoked, I hid it well! Didn't want the attention..) I can now go and "use the restroom" or sneak a vape in the other room! It's awesome!

I just bought my girlfriend the same setup. She still smokes 3-5 camel crush a day vs the 15-20 a day and the smell of tobacco still gives me cravings. Hoping she will kick it soon!
