I'm curious as to y'alls opinions.

I am new to vaping, only 3 weeks or so and started to quit smoking. BUT, I have seen kinda the same thing happen as what I experience being a motorcyclist.

In your face type of behaviour that makes me self aware when I vape around others. As you all know, the majority, vast majority of the general public is very uninformed when it comes to vaping. When I observe others vape in an obnoxious manner, especially around little kids with parents nearby, just blowing the biggest clouds they possibly can, knowing full well that likely the parents of those little kids are going to say something, anything, because they do not understand what vaping is, like a vaping bully or something.

Its almost like some vapers are trying on purpose to push the buttons of the uninformed just to prove a point. Vaping where it may be permitted, like some restaurants, but then going to the extreme of puffing these monster clouds around people who are just trying to enjoy a meal, and not need a whiff of your "Kotton Kandy" or whatever cartoon show named juice you happen to be enjoying that day.

Look i'm all for freedom of choice and all that, hell I put on a uniform for years in defense of our very right to do so. And maybe its just me because im getting on in years, soon to be 47, but, and this is for all you "I do what I want, when I want, because I can" type of cloud chasers:

Please consider the image you are promoting when you vape. Be courteous and considerate around others and be aware that though the general public MAY know that you are vaping, they really do not know anything else other than what they read on FaceBook or Yahoo! News, and those are really NOT the places you want to see the general public being educated.

In closing, do you think, honestly, we are perceived any different than your average smoker?

I personally think the public at large puts us in the same category, or worse if you can believe it, because smoking has been around forever, but vaping is in its infancy. Just ask your average Joe what they know and think of vaping, it might surprise you. They don't know much to be honest.

What do you all think?

LOL I have yet to see a vaper "in the wild" here.... Closest I've come is cow breath in the winter. :p I live out in the sticks but when I do get into what is loosely called town here, I only blow clouds if no one is in close proximity to me. The Wally World here has a no smoking including ecigarettes sign on the front door so I don't vape inside. I'm good. :p

I avoid anyone having to smell or be touch by my visible exhale that might be bothered by it. If indoors or someone is directly down wind, I will adjust my behavior for the comfort of others. If someone appears offended by the sight of me, I find them to be "acting it up" as they could use their eyelids or turn their head to remove the offense.

As for the opinions I consider, opinions of people I love and I know love me, there has been overwhelming support.

First off, thanks for your service. What branch? People have the mentality that if it something looks like a duck and quacks like duck then it must be a duck. If vaping looks like smoke then in their eyes it's jot much difference. When people obnoxiously vape near others even if it's legal it creates a stereotype.

The easiest way to bring down the sterotype and to help explain the reduction of harm that vapor has over smoke starts with those around you. The people that know you well and trust you, your family and coworkers.

So lets say that vaping is 95 percent healthier. With that statement you could assume that if you were a pack a day smoker that 95 percent of that habit would be one cigarette. Now I know that is extremely dumbed down. It's Barney style. There are many variables that aren't included in that statement, including the 1000s of chemicals.

If you explain it to those around you the word will get out. Stop being a vapehole.

I feel like I just stepped out of a time machine....Retro Thread from 2014.

As I'm sure it's happened because so many people seem to have witnessed this rebel behavior, I have yet to see it first hand....and I've been down the cereal ISLE many times.

Here there is a perception that vaping is drugs. With the advent of all the sub ohm, there are many cloud heads that show no regard. I do use a dripper, but when in town I go on to our loading dock. My belief is keep the cloud vids & contests for vape shows.

Even when we could vape in shops (illegal now in Quebec) I was against filling the air, just in case a client trying to transition gets freaked out

    My 2 cents

I've only been vaping for a little over a year, I've never seen it in person, but I've seen it on YouTube. When I was at the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks with my son and would step out for fresh air, saw a pretty bit of vapors, but no large in your face clouds.

The other day I was at work and this woman told me that after 30+ years of smoking she quit, with a big smile on her face. So I went on to tell her that I smoked Marlboro reds a pack a day for 5 years and quit three years ago. When she asked me how I did it, I told her I quit using the electronic cigarettes. What she said to me was, "that's even worse than cigarettes". "Don't ya read the news, it's there all the time".

If Diogenes were searching for that honest man today, he would never find one in the news media.

Hers is the general reaction I get 99% of the time when I tell folks how I quit smoking. That is the general knowledge at large.
