Yeah, I hang around a lot, learn from others and always like to welcome those newer than me in the New Members Forum. I go on excavations everyday to dig up buried posts. Some folks start a thread with questions at an inopportune time and it gets buried. Most people only look at newer posts, so I bump neglected threads up to top. Plus, I just have some much to say.: quote

I like that! Youre the master of the Cold Case Files!!

I have about 50 or so Smoke Tip cartos, I pulled out the plugs and they make an interesting dripping atty!

I don't know much, so can't help in most cases, but somebody ought to know. My prefills were V2, who promised 200 puffs, not. If I ever get bored, will dust those off and try to clean them, have to dust off my 808 batts too.

Edit: it's more like match making, getting questions matched with those who know.

OK, Im on my 5th good draw! Puting in another couple of drops before anything BAD  happens!!

1) fluffed the 'stuff'
2) got about 6 drops in before puddle
3) vaped three good ones and then
4) took cart off, 'stuff' was stuck to the atty and dry on the other side
5) put a few drops in BEFORE stuff
6)turned stuff upside down, dry side up
7) added drops till 'slush'
8) couple drops on the atty
9) on my 5th good draw!!

IT'S WORKING! :thumb:

Re. Step 1. don't have to fluff or take filling out.

2. dropper sizes are different, but could fit more than 6 drops. See paperclip pic under "Your First Vape" in Cignot Illustrated Guide: Help: Answer

8. no need to wet again, only when atty is completely dry.

Note: do not turn cart when it's in the atty, filler will catch atty bridge.

hmmm... So if I took an atty out of my junk box (where its going back!!), put juice in the cart, THEN put my 'good' fluff, wet the fluff, popped it on to the (likely dry) atty... YUCK?? We may be getting somewhere here!
All dry (YUCK) hits with an atomizer are due to one thing, no juice at the atomizer heating element.
And no juice at the heating element is always a wicking issue, unless you are dripping.

The basics of wicking are...
1) The filler material brings juice to the atomizer bridge
2) The atomizer bridge brings juice to the heating element

If any of the above is not working for any reason then you have a wicking issue.

But wicking issues come in many shapes and sizes...
--No juice left in the cartridge to wick
--Filler material not working fast enough
--Atomizer bridge not touching filler material
--Juice is too thick for the filler material
--Taking too many drags in too short a timeframe
--Not giving newly added juice enough time to wick
--Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera

Basically, dripping just eliminates all wicking issues.

For me...

1. Filler material stinks!!
2. Taking too many vapes too quickly

3. FORGETTING THAT I DON'T HAVE A CARTO ON!!!

I'm getting it!!!

Bows to those who know!!

You got it already, not that complicated. :toast: Question is do you like it?

Now, if you replace that white stuff with something like this https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67_49&products_id=222&zenid=4dmvitu7eqm4hj484elp0862f4, which you can also get and cut yourself. You can nearly double the puffs. And if you get those bigger carts like I linked in post #83, you can double the puffs again, up to 1 ml juice.

Edit: off to din din again...:)

I was going along at a pretty good clip last night. Compensated for the "crap" stuffing by adding two drops every 4-5 draws. All was going great till I got to #3 above!!! Yuck!! My bad!! Yes I did like it!! BUT I will have to watch for the warning signs of going dry! Don't "feel it" yet! With my stainless cartos, PLENTY of time. I top off a lot cause I can taste the stainless after 10-15 good draws. No yuck, just metal!! I think I can do this with a few adjustments and BEING AWARE of a drop in something???? Didn't notice anything, but I may HEAR a difference!

Ok. THATS IT!!! (says with an irritated voice). DUH!! I have a 150 gallon salt water reef tank. That means EXCELLENT filtration and Expensive "stuff". I'm going to get a piece!!!
This is my opinion only, I have tried the blue foam, tea bag mod. and every thing I read on the ECF forum and when I tried my first 510 cartomizer I have never used the atty/carts again. I love to vape and vape allot and don't want to mess with a atty/cart takes to much time. Slap on a cartomizer and it will go for a long time until you need to refill it. And if you fill 2 or 3 cartomizers before you go to bed and let them soak up the juice next morning you can vape and vape and then change to a new one when the vapor production goes down. The cartomizer hold a whole lot more juice than a cart.

I'm obviously having a geat time on my own!!

I HEAR IT!!!!! I think I HEAR The need to top off before !!! THATS GREAT!! Maybe someday I will go longer between drops cause I can actually TASTE It (still scared ) but I CAN hear it!!!

Gonna do the bananna!! :banana::banana::blink::banana:

The bananas are back!

Sounds like you're having fun, octopus taste and all. I think you have round carts. The "whistle tip" carts are tiny, can't hold much juice. Yes, you can taste it when the flavor drops off and even hear it sometimes. Because the standard carts don't last long, I fill 10 at a time twice a day.

The important thing is to have fun, makes your grand experiment worthwhile. At least now you know how the "other folks" do it. Your juice waste issue is probably solved too. :p

Laura is just experimenting. She had been using 2 ml cartos but didn't like wasting juice when the carto failed, didn't know until after she filled them. Maybe you can help her with that?

I didn't understand that, I thought she would rather use a atty/cart instead of a cartomizer. Yes, the atty works very well for testing a juice before committing it to a carto, I do that too. I just don't like a atty/cart to use on a regular basis compared to a cartomizer. For saving juice in a bad cartomizer, you can take out the filler material with tweezers and place it in a syringe and push the plunger down and get almost all the e-juice out to reuse, It works VERY WELL. I do this anytime my cartomizers looses performance or quits working. Hope this tip helps, I hate wasting juice also.

I AM curious, who uses them, what is the benefit, why do you like them vs cartos or dripping?

I still use cartridges, and don't direct-drip or use cartomizers. I haven't explored cartomizers much, but the free ones I got as free samples from Vapor4Life (when I purchased some liquid and accessories) were IMO very weak and didn't deliver the throat hit that liquid/atomizers do. And they leaked badly when refilled.

For me direct-dripping is just too messy. I usually get about 5 or 6 good hits off a 510 or DSE901 with the cart, before needing to top off. Direct dripping would probably get 2-3 hits before re-dripping. And some of the atomizers that I like, such as the M801 from LiteCigUSA (which works with a 510 battery) have exposed wicks and therefore are not appropriate for dripping (dipping, maybe).

Cart users unite! There are ways to fit more into carts and bigger carts. See my post #107 in this thread. :)

Laura, wick, like the wick of a candle, is that white, fluffy stuff in the atty that gets the juice from carts and place it next to heating coils to generate vapor. Is most cases, the wick is obscured by a wire mesh bridge.
