Does anyone else direct drip on their CE2's?

im not a huge fan of ce2's but i found something useful for them!!!

fill your CE2 with 50/50 pg vg (or whatever blend you like of glycol/glycerin)..

Then direct drip on top of it with your favorite juice!

This way you never vape dry if you were directly dripping (because you dont get punished with a nasty dry vape), and you save alot of juice by direct drip!

Sure direct drip is a pain, but i think this is really alot less pain than normal drip because your not so worried about taking a dry hit!
:p

I guess direct dripping would work if you didn't drip to much and flood the center tube but they really aren't that hard to get performing like they should without any dry hits from full to empty.

There's lots of info on widening the area on the seal around the coil and then not pushing the seal all the way back down on the ceramic cup when replacing and if it's a clearo replacing the tube with a 3ml BD Syringe tube. After doing that they perform great for me and last for months with periodic cleaning and dry burn.

You really don't need a video, if you can use a sharp knife you can do it. Get a 3ml BD syringe....I get them local at CVS or if you want to buy them in bulk you can find them cheaper on the net. Cut it to the same length of the original tube then just replace the original tube with it....done.

The only draw back is if you like to use the Riva/Ego gone. The outer diameter is slightly bigger on the syringe tube so the cone won't quite slide down over it but you can mod the cone to fit if it really matters.

so the syringe mod gives more room for juice okay.. is there anything i can do to correct for the fact that the ce2 dry vapes more often than not? i tried taking off the rubber top w/ the two holes that covers the plastic well and that seemed to help, somewhat but made it so i have to hold it straight up..

No the syringe tube is the same size on the inside, holds the same amount of juice and gives the same amount of room. It's just more durable and doesn't crack and can be taken from carto to carto when you retire one. If you want more room for juice then there are MANY tank systems out there that use the CE2.

Widening the slots where the wick goes through on the gasket and not pushing it all the way down on the cup helps when replaced. When the juice starts getting to a level below the cup just tilt it upside down long enough for the juice to get around the cup then turn it back over and vape. Once I started doing that I've never gotten a dry hit.

This is serious? Why would one bother to do this? From boredom? For the Irony?
Isn't the idea of a cartomizer to be more convenient than an atty because it holds more juice?
Isn't direct dripping the most laborious and deliberate way to put juice in a PV?
I'm soory, but direct dripping onto the coil of a cartomizer seems akin to building a fire under a microwave to me.

I thought I was alone! I tailpipe my ce2 most days. I use vg only so it's no way ever wicking it without diluting it too much. Since I took it apart I had the thought just to try dripping and yes, I like it. Amazing warmth, great flavour and wait for it...no leaks! I think it's better than dripping a 510 atomiser but that's just me.

Why would you drip a 510 atomiser? Shouldn't you use the wadding in the cart so it wicks itself? Whatever works for you I say.

Kinda what I was thinking...WHY? lol They are about 1/3 to 1/4 the price of an atty and the coil is amazingly durable, but still.

Good point. Personally, I wouldn't. Too much trouble, but a cartomizer is designed to reduce the mucking about. Do you really NOT get my point? Really?
I mean, do what works for you, by all means, but at least RECOGNIZE the irony in this practice. For the humor of it if nothing else.
I'm not trying to ridicule you personally but I find this kind of ............ I don't know ........... ironic is the best word I can come up with.
Much love and respect to ya brother but I'm just gonna have to smile a little bit over here, if ya don't mind.
Peace.

I don't think my tongue in cheek came over too well. I wasn't trying to be overly serious either. Sorry! :D

I wouldn't have thought to drip my ce2 until I found out nothing I could do to it would mean it would work with vg. I now have 5 ce2s I can't use because of that unless I drip with them. Being the skinflint Scot I am I decided to try dripping with them and was pleased to find they work a lot like dripping on an atomiser but hotter if you tailpipe them. I'm glad I can do something with them but I wouldn't buy them again specifically to drip with.

It's a sitting around the house and whatever's closest to me to drip with sort of deal. It does seem a little silly to use something that's designed for anything but dripping to drip with but hey they didn't cost a lot and get the job done.

If an affordable system comes out I can stick on my ego that works like a ce2 is meant to and takes vg I'll be a happy guy that doesn't drip anymore.

Yeah, I have a $40.00 tank and 5 Rev. 5 CE2s (4 are still in the mylar) that are just sittin' here 'cause I got sick of fussin with them. BTW, they don't seem to wick PG either. I'm not sure they'd wick straight up water to tell you the truth.

Interesting.
My CE2-X Rev 5 wick anything from 100% PG to 90% VG; no wicking problems.
I wonder if your wick is pinched?

I don't know how it could be pinched in a 5 ml transparent tank. I have to keep tipping the tank down to soak the top of the wicks near the coil or I get really hot hits. It's good for 4 or 5 hits after I tip it and then I gotta do it again.
I'm now using a Liquinator tank with an IKV 801 Fusion carto in it with no wicking issues.

Sometimes the stopper at the top isn't open enough to let the juice wick through. Out of 15 CE2s I've had this happen twice. Take your "EZ Fill Tool" (aka "Syringe") and open it up.

As far as dripping I find dripping on these to be sublime!

When I started over a year ago, I had lots of problems with standard cartos. I would burn them up very quickly and I think it's because I like to take three or four draws in rapid succession, sit it down for a while, then repeat. In fact, there's a thread now by mrrunon (please help... boge lr cartos) where he describes the same sort of problem. I went to just attys, both dripping and using the carts. When the ce2s came out, I researched them and found some folks were having lots of problems, but once I saw that big old coil right up close to the top I figured they were worth a try.

The first thing I do is remove all the top plugs including the one around the ceramic and toss them in a box, clean them with H2O2, let dry, drip in about 10 drops, pop on a drip tip and vape away. I love the fact that nothing in them burns.
