Just got back into vaping after relapsing on smoking for a couple years. One of the issues last time around was getting irritated with the 510 cartridges getting dry quickly. I liked dripping, but travel my the car a lot and was just too much of a hassle dripping on the road.

This time around I picked up some 510 tanks and bottom feeder, now seeing the (mixed) reviews of clearomizers. I'm interested in the CE2s that don't have the wicking materiel. Looks like you just tip them down to get the wick/element saturated... much like dripping?

My question is around modding them. I've read about the hassles with the clearomizers falling apart, and the syringe mod that people talk about. However, I was watching this video regarding cleaning CE2s, and have a few questions:

1) At the 3:45 mark, he discusses taking the PTB mod out, because "these wick so well". Do I understand it that to mean that the Volcano CE2s are better than CE2s, or maybe this was his first CE2 and he realized he didn't need any filler at all?

2) At like 4:08, after mentioning that he took the PTB out of the CE2's, he mentions that his other standard cartos "are modded". Are modded with the PTB? Or some mod related to whatever he did with the CE2s?

3) Right after that, me mentions that the "tube (of the CE2) is smaller, which is what allows the eGo cones to fit around it"... implying that the syringe mods won't allow the cone to go around it. Does this mean he did not replace his Volcano clearomizers with the BD casing? It's true that BD mods prevent the eGo cone from fitting on?

Thanks for any clarification. I'm going to pick up some of the CE2's to try out as a "tank" system, and just trying to read up on what mods I might be looking into regarding them.

Thanks!

I'm at work so I can't watch the video to reference your questions. I have used the clearo's a fair bit and I like them pretty well. I never did get around to modding them, though I have heared the BD brand syringe is what works best. I dont think a syringe modded CE2 will fit in an eGo cone. I can get a normal clearo to fit though on my eGo though. Not sure if I answered any of your questions but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along.

Just some food for thought. I have never been so satisfied with vaping as I have been for the last month with my Reo Grand. This bottom feeder mod is like dripping without having to drip. I get great tasting vaping without any hassle. Just thought I would mention that to you, I dont know if its something you have looked into or not. There are some other, cheaper, alternatives to the Reo, such as Oldgoat's mods (I believe I got the 3.7v 3ml one for around 30 bucks, its not aluminum, but is a cheap way to try out a bottom feeder).

1) The CE2s have went through numerous revisions, he may have been comparing revisions. Other than that they are all the same, some just rebrand them for instance GotVapes calls their CE2 the Fluximizer, same thing. I've never used the PTB mod and they work well for me I see no reason to. I just turn it upside down before each vape long enough to get the liquid to wet up around the coil, has the same consistent hit every time that way for me.

2) I think by standard he's referring to the steel ones instead of the Clearos. Have no idea why he would use the PTB in one and not the other, providing they are the same revision they should be the same except for the tube and the way it connects to the base. You'll find everyone has their own little routine with these that may be different, whatever works.

3) True, 3ml BD Syringes have a slightly wider outer diameter and the standard Ego/Riva cones won't quite fit over them. I don't use those anymore so it's not an issues for me. The cones can be modded by cutting the narrow end a little shorter or drilling it out if that's an issue.

The only thing I do with the CE2 Clearmoizer is replace the original tube with the 3ml BD syringe, widen the area on the gasket that fits over the cup where the wick goes into the cup on each side and that's it. Been using my first 3 I did that way for over 3 months and they are still performing like new with periodic cleaning and a dry burn.
