Does anyone have evidence that e cigs are healthier than cigs based on personal experience or data?

I was a 20 year smoker. Most of those years I was downing at LEAST 2 packs a day. Mostly Pall Mall. So I know my lungs were probably getting pretty cashed. Started up vaping a little over a year ago, and haven't smoked since.

So, my wife makes me a doctor's appointment, because I had a weird swelling in my leg. (and she proclaims she is worried, yeah right lol)
So I go to see a new doctor, fill out all the paperwork and go in. She sees that I have smoked for all that time and asked how I quit. I told her I went to vaping and she shakes her head (like i'm still killing myself). She then informs me that she wants me to have a chest xray (because I think she wants me to see how crappy my lungs still are even on ecigs) I go and get the stupid thing, and come back a week later. She opens the xrays and reads the report from the guy who reads them. He apparently says that my lungs look good, and that he couldn't tell that I had ever been a smoker. The doc still poo poos the vaping, but is very surprised that my lungs look good. That seems good enough evidence for me that vaping is ok for me. Oh, my leg was fine, just some swelling because I stand on it all day.

I had severe asthma and now i don't have asthma attacks every day. When i smoked i woke up having asthma attacks every morning plus any time i tried to do anything like walking or yardwork and housework. My doctor is very pleased that i quit smoking. Vaping is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Same here severe ashtmatic and yes everyone is saying wow your a idiot but when your in the military most of the time you just need to get away and have a smoke to relax the nerves so to speak just moved from Germany to Colorado and the elevation kicked my behind capping has helped with drastic changes in asthma attacks and my lung capacity for running.... best thing for me to :)

First - Smoking is in NO WAY healthy

Second - the shear difference in chemical make up puts Vaping in a much safer light.

Is it Healthy? I do not know.
Does it allow a smoker to improve Health when used to avoid Smoking - Personal experience - a Resounding YES

Stronger/deeper breathing possible
More oxygen to bloodstream
Endurance up

I got hit by three flu/cold bugs back to back over about 5 weeks while I was still smoking. After that I had a nagging cough that would have me hacking up major amounts of phlegm by the end of the day. I figured it would go away. After 5 months it hadn't so I switched to vaping. After two days of vaping instead of smoking, the cough and phlegm were mostly gone and fading fast, by the end of the first week it was unnoticeable. I'm at about 5 weeks now and the nagging smoker's hack I had is almost vanished and my lungs feel much better. That's after being a smoker for 38 years.

Another thing I should mention. I am definitely feeling better than I used to while smoking. I found after a long day of smoking too much I'd feel terrible. That's gone, vaping doesn't do it to me.

Yep... I was a 1.5 ppd smoker. 8 months ago I was diagnosed with chronic bronchitis, a month later I was hospitalized for 5 days with pneumonia... a month from getting out of the hospital I was diagnosed with Pleuricy. I was put on a nebulizer once a day, rescue inhalers 3xday, and a long acting inhaler in the a.m. I was *still* having problems.

2 weeks into vaping, and still smoking approx 5 cigs a day, I went to the doctor (for something unrelated) and to her surprise not only was I completely off the nebulizer and rescue inhalers, but my lungs sounded completely clear!

I'm 3 weeks into vaping now, still smoking a few cigs a day though... but ma'an I feel like a million bucks (or at least my respiratory system does, LOL)

I am a happy and healthier camper, indeed!

Just got checked by my doctor. All my airways are clear. I told him I haven't used my CPAP machine in a year and his comment was "Great!" and he gave me a thumbs up when I told him I vape now. History: 40+ years of smoking cigarettes; vaping for 1 1/2 years now; sleep like a baby ALL night long.

That is all the proof I need.

I coughed and hacked up phlegm (from 56 years of smoking), and kept blaming it on "allergies"
Many, many doctor appointments and treatments.
I guit the day I started finding blood in the phlegm, and within a week, the coughing and "allergies" were gone.

Propylene glycol in e cigarettes might keep us healthy, says researchers
Published on November 4, 2009 at 1:36 AM ·
Propylene glycol, the primary ingredient in the electronic cigarette cartridge, may be a powerful deterrent against pneumonia, influenza, and other respiratory diseases when vaporized and inhaled according to a study by Dr. Oswald Hope Robertson.
Decades before the e cigarette was invented, a study was conducted by Dr. Robertson of the University of Chicago's Billings Hospital in 1942 on inhalation of vaporized propylene glycol in laboratory mice.
A more in-depth article was printed in the 1942 issue of TIME Magazine Medicine: Air Germicide - TIME for November 16th.
"Dr. Robertson placed groups of mice in a chamber and sprayed its air first with propylene glycol, then with influenza virus.
All the mice lived.
Then he sprayed the chamber with virus alone. All the mice died."

The researchers also found that "the propylene glycol itself was a potent germicide.
One part of glycol in 2,000,000 parts of air would--within a few seconds--kill concentrations of air-suspended pneumococci, streptococci and other bacteria numbering millions to the cubic foot."

Clinical trials on electronic cigarettes containing propylene glycol were carried out in New Zealand by Dr. Murray Laugeson of Health New Zealand and can be found on the website of SS Choice LLC at We've Moved under the tab "Media Coverage."
Far from posing a threat to our health, the propylene glycol in e cigarettes might just keep us healthy.
Further studies should be done on the effects of propylene glycol to determine if it can be used successfully as a virus prevention tool. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the best flu preventative was right under our noses all this time?
