Can we trust the advice that is given to us in ecf by ecf members when we ask questions about hardware and liquids ? Are some existing members honest enough to give sincere advice ? A lot of posts in ecf contain information that is written for the sole purpose of making fools of those that ask for advice. I am not saying all the advice here is false but there is a lot. How is someone supposed to know if the advice they are being given is sound and not something that has been invented for fun. Do the moderators look for this kind of thing and remove it. If you search ecf you'll find it's all still there. Seeing as the only reason for coming here is to learn more about vaping and vaping hardware then this seems to a fundemental flaw. I have read hundreds of threads in which existing members sound sincere by welcoming new members and congratulating them for giving up smoking whilst in the same sentence give invalid advice for their own personal amusement. Is this what ecf caters for ?. If it is then i am wrong for posting this and shouldn't have bothered.

"Advice" is subjective. I have yet to see a post in which I thought someone deliberately mislead a new member for his/her own amusement. Feel free to disagree if someone posts advice and you have a differing opinion. Also, if you aren't happy with the forum, its content, or its moderators, remember that participation is purely voluntary.

Could you link to some posts where misleading advice is given? I haven't noticed any posts myself where I thought the poster was knowingly giving misleading advice. Sometimes people misunderstand how things work or some such and unknowingly may give out misleading advice.

Being fairly new here, I have asked for lots of advice. I have quickly learned that everyone has an opinion, and that many options are available for most situation. For example, if I ask what is the best clearo, I will get the answers t2, t3, vivi nova, startdust, etc. It is up to me to research each and make a decision for myself. When I ask a question, I try to give as much info as possible, such as I want ease of use and something easy to clear for my clearos. That generally produces answers more suited to my particular situation.

I'm not going to start searching for these posts now. All i know is that i have read stuff which is total nonsense. The bottom coil clearo advice for one. Flipping the rubber cap and removing the flavour wicks isn't advisable, it doesn't work and is bad advice.

Have you used that well known bottom coil clearomizer. The one which, apparently, if you flip the rubber cap and remove the "flavour wicks" it performs better. I've read this advice in plenty of threads and to be blunt it's rubbish advice. Doing that will make it leak. That's rubbish advice my friend. Total rubbish !.
unfortunately what may not work for you may work great for others. just because it doesnt work for doesnt mean it is wrong or that someone purposely misled you.

I would say that it worked for those that have told you that. I don't know I haven't used that type of clearo yet. And if it didn't work maybe don't do that.

But when it comes to "modding" these devices" the advice given is nearly always wrong advice. I'm not saying the devices are flawed i'm saying the modding advice is.

Why would you want the only opinion to be the opinion of a few moderators who can't possibly use every product ever made instead of opinions from various people?

The people here always seem to me to be genuine and certainly not deliberately false.

I've had some very thoughtful and kind people help me with my goal of quitting smoking and my questions about various products.

Generally, anyone searching for advise on forums (E-cig forums) like this,I would think common sense is used as well as looking at the majority of the same answers to the question at hand. Then it is up to the person seeking the info to make a conclusion as to the validness of the answers given. To draw ones own conclusions is always a given.

Advise is exactly that, advise. It's up to the reader to either take that advise or not. If the advise works, great. If not, don't use it. It sounds as though you're looking for concrete facts. If that's what you seek try reading the manufacturers operating manuals. And as someone previously stated, membership to this forum is completely voluntary.

It sounds as though you may want to start your own forum given your vast knowledge and everybody else's lack of it.

Like all things on Internet take it with a grain of salt. It would be too much and too restrictive if they erased every thing they didn't agree with.
Research is research take what you want from it and make a choice. no 2 devices seem to be exactly the same with quality control issues. There are many factors that make it Work wicking is the main one its a perfect balance.

Yeah. I don't think that would be a moderators job in a forum like this. Follow up posters often jump on weird ideas or inappropriate advice. Like advising a newbie to get a RBA when they are still trying to figure out the difference between a carto and an atty. I'd be a little irritated with the site if a moderator did that and starting deleting posts.

You sir, appear to be someone who is always correct, so opinions other than your own appear false to you.
Removing the rubber thing works for many members, but not for you. Rubbish? Try putting the rubber thing back on!

I also read your post about battery mods. Ego twist batteries work great for you, so why would anyone want a battery mod?

Are you here for advise, or are you just here to tell the rest of us we're wrong?

Clyde
