I heard a radio ad today for a local stop-smoking hypnotherary/laser therapy clinic promoting their services using the argument that "those e-cigarettes just don't work". This seems like they are trying to use the FDA policy when in my opinion, the opposite is true.
I think the the success rate for hypno/laser therapy can't be much better than the patch, gum or drugs. As far as quitting using the e-cig, I can count myself as a walking testimonial and many here can do the same.

For me it did not work. I spent $150.00 to be hypnotized in a group and was given a reinforcement CD to listen to every night.

I threw my cigarettes away at the closing of the meeting due to the power of suggestion and because I paid $150.00 and wanted it to work very badly, still had withdrawl and cravings, (which you are not supposed to) and actually came to hate the sound of the hypnotists voice on the CD and even got to the point where I mimicked him as he droned on and on...."Cigarettes Baaaaad".

It didn't work for me and found out later I was not a hypnotism candidate although I regularly meditate, it just seems I am not gullible or suggestable as some people are, (except when I handed over the cash).

I went to one of those years ago with the wife and father-in-law. Worked for the FIL for a few months; me, I couldn't wait to get out and have a smoke

Hypnotism works when the subject is willing and motivated. It can be a good starting tool to get you going, however, while in these sessions, meditating and listening either to the hypnotist or the tapes, you may begin to uncover other, shall we call them, "pressing issues" that might have been left unresolved - unconfessed secrets.... or bearing grudges against someone/lack of forgiveness.

If those aren't addressed, they will persist, and will render the hypnotherapy ineffective, or with a temporary effect at best, before you are triggered into smoking again. Whatever emotion, typically negative, we held back from experiencing based on something that happens, stays with us indefinitely.

You will find quitting any addiction, once you reprocess all buried emotion, confess, forgive it all, becomes a helluva lot easier.

Last but not least, you could do all those things, have a great life and still suffer from anxiety/depression, which has nothing to do with your past trauma/experiences any longer. This is when you want to visit your local psychiatrist and ask whether it's some chemical imbalance you suffer from, based on your symptoms. Chemical imbalances are helped by therapy, but you need a bigger gun, meds or supplementation and/or lifestyle change - and are notoriously difficult to manage because it's just how you are built....

Nothing is impossible - the question is - can we surrender our opinion and listen to those who truly want to see us get better? To the degree that the answer to this question is 'yes', you will experience appropriate success with altering your habits.

can't hold myself not to comment, a friend of mine told me that yes, it can help you to quit anything that you think it is bad for you i.e. cigarette but you need to be willing to quit wholeheartedly with no compulsion and it takes time and the time frame will be different to each individual, in this case, why I did not want to quit, simply because I enjoyed smoking a lot!!! but on the other hand realized that it was bad for my health furthermore I do not want to gain weight due to quit smoking result so I need to find another healthier (not healthiest) distraction Thank God I found personal vaporizer (I do not want to call it electronic cigarette because it is not cigarette, it is pv IMHO).

In a very special condition we need to quit no matter what, for example when we got pregnant or plan to get pregnant, and we are forced to quit, well I'm not planning to get pregnant in the near future so for me no need to quit but still decided to quit after tried my 1st pv.

However, there was a very interesting point my friend told me, hypnotherapy even can change you from being gay to become straight LoL I was litterally shocked and l laughed my A55 off ....really!!!! so it can turn you the other way around then????? she even gave me one of a proven example of her friend, he was gay but due to his faith, religion, norms in his country bla bla bla, he went to a hypnotherapist to make him straight now he is straight, married and has children. When I asked is there any time limit/expiration time so all of the sudden he will be gay again so what happen with his wife and children then???? My friend told me that the therapist has a tool to lock it very very deep in your subconscious forever. However, IMHO I believe all techniques, tools, or whatever is not all perfect. Just cannot imagine if someday, somehow, somewhere the friend of my friend accidentally open "the lock" unintentionally.

IMHO hypnotism it is good for traumatic thing, phobia, or bad habit problem such as nail biting etc. So if it can turn your sexual orientation based on the above story surely it can make you quit smoking, but the problem is do we really wan to quit smoking or not?? or does one have to change his/her orientation due to she/he is not comfortable being who she is/he is just for other people's opinion/views?, Well other people do not pay our bill, why bother LoL. If you think that you want to quit smoking desperately, I believe there will be ways but surely it will take time.

Well if hypnotism does work, but "it takes time and the time frame will be different to each individual," then I guess it worked for me. I was hypnotized 25 years ago and continued smoking until 2009 when I switched to an e-cigarette. So it must be that the e-cigarette did nothing for me, but the hypnosis kicked in, keyed to my unique individual timeframe.
