Does the term "Pen" bother anyone else?

This may sound a little arrogant on my part but this has been on my mind for quite a while and I just want to know how other vapers feel about it. I've been vaping for over 3 years now, much before it started getting a lot of attention, and the new marketing in the industry is really starting to annoy me. I think the biggest annoyance is the term "vape pen". Often times when I pull out my genesis mod which is usually paired with nothing more than a bolt, or sometimes my VV but I much prefer the mechanicals, noobs get all surprised and say things like "wow, is that a vaporizer pen?". I'm sure it has to do with the amount of pride I take in my vaping and the time I have put DIY liquids and mods, but I'm really starting to get annoyed. I usually just give them the look and just say yep, but what I want to say is that this is the result of years of trial and error which has finally resulted in a the best vape that I could produce for half the price I use to pay for cigarettes. I get the feeling that they would not be able to appreciate that.

I don't want to sound arrogant but I take a lot of pride in my vaping and it just feels like it's going a little too mainstream. Am I overreacting here or do others feel the same way?

If it's a 510 battery with or without a VV, no I didn't mind, on a VV/VW mod, slightly, on an authentic mechanical mod and rda and expensive dt yes I do mind, vape pen especially e cigarette it feels like an insult to me. Maybe it's me being a vaping snob but my setup costs a lot more and is much better than a typical "vape pen".

Mainstream is what we want! I've been vaping for 8 years and I could care less what anyone calls my gear. It works for me and that's all I really care about regarding my gear.:)

This exactly. I have put so much trial and error into this, I definitely find it a little insulting.

Point taken, especially when it comes to FDA. I guess I'm just going to have to get use to it. Like for example, I use to be able to vape anywhere because nobody even knew what it was. I use to vape right at my desk at work, on the bus, in theaters and pretty much anywhere. Now I get dirty looks whenever I do. Frustrating.

Well in certain cities in California, supposedly it is illegal to vape indoors even in vape shops, but unless it's your house. Not sure if it's in effect or how much it's enforced since it's still done in vape shops where it's supposedly baned.

I feel the more exposure vaping gets and the more of us there are the better it is for all of us. The term 'vape pen' doesn't bother me at all.

When I used mechanical tube mods I used to get vape pen. Now when I'm out and about with my reo I get "omg what in the world is that, it's so pretty" or once I tell them what it is "why did you spend so much money on something to smoke"

Yup, my Reo gets some funny reactions as well. When asked about the cost I typically say about a months worth of cigarettes and it will last me a long time :)

The terms 'hookah' and 'e-cigarette' bother me more than 'pen'.

But people need it related to the topic that it substitutes for, I guess.

Some of them look like pens...I think they even have a pocket 'clip' on them. Meh.
I think parents should be aware of this, though. Check the 'pens' kids have....that they are real pens and not vaping devices.

None of the terms bother me in the slightest. Same goes for other things too. I know what a magazine is and I know what a clip is and I know what somebody is referring to when they use either term even if incorrectly. Is vi "Vee Eye" or is it "Veye" etc.. etc... Just can't bring my self to get my knickers in a wad about such things...
