What's wrong with selectable rather than variable?

IMO, Nothing as long as you have a decent range to select from. It is better than set voltage but by definition inferior to VV.

That being said, if your presets give you the "sweet spot" for the juices you vape, then mission accomplished!

Not every "upgrade" that we seek out in this or any other venture is even discernible to us. (150hp engine vs the 151hp version)

But we engineer in a vacuum to theoretical perfection so that our real life experience satisfies our "hunger" for the best. We are happy with what we have until we hear there is something better.

To the person who was not satisfied to begin with and saw a need for improvement, necessity is the mother of invention.

This works great, I removed the stuffing out of my 301 carto-it is simply wrapped around, I found the ending of it and removed with a pair of tweezers, it took all of 15 seconds. I have used the same carto since yesterday afternoon. I was kind of surprised at how much of the filler was burnt, I had never tasted it when I had vaped???

Anyways, I am able to add almost 10 drops with very little leaking. I also just cut a hole in the end of a condom that came with the cartos and just pop that off when I need to refill so I dont have to tailpipe the carto.

Great way to vape.

Well I tried it, twice, and failed miserably. First a standard 808, then a new LR 510.

Not knocking the procedure, it just me. I'm thinking maybe after the current carto gets used up a bit it may go easier for me (both were new). I ended up taking out the socks, its a shame as the coils still light up and sizzle, but no real way to wick.
Only thing left is the little white "sleeve" part that is very short.

I tried moving it with tweezers so that it covers the coil section, but what good is that? Will only vape what is dripped directly on it.

Like I said not adverse to the method or idea. This is probably going in the same direction as cartos did for me originally, dismal failure due to operator error, then later on down the line after gaining more experience I'll get it to work right.

Katya,
Some good info and pics from the link you posted. Thanks. I can see now that there are gonna be as many or more styles of cartomizers than attys. Anyone offering to send any, Only 808(901 threads) or 510 will be of much help as that's all I can connect to. unless they make one for an 801. I don't have a 4081 or an adapter to anything I own.

Sorry if 801 info is posted on down the thread. It's late and I have a lot of all night work to do.

I just took the stuffing out of an 801 carto. The center tube is very short. I haven't done it yet with a 501 so I don't have a comparison. It may be close to 1/4" but possibly less. Is that long enough? Would a small amount of stuffing help with leaking.

I further destroyed the carto out of curiosity but will do another to see how it works. I do have some 501-801 adapters so I can use a 501 or ego manual battery in case of excess leaking. (DH uses only 801 auto batteries and straw modded cart/attys at this point.) I wanted to get him started on cartos but all five of these had a foul taste I couldn't get beyond. I've ordered some more from a different vendor.

I stumbled on this thread a week ago, and gave it a try. I've destroyed a couple of cartomizers in the attempt. I read the posts by Hendry, and he used the same carts as I do - Vapornine Turbos. The filler seems to be really glued in there or something. I tried the boiling method to loosen the glue, but that was a no go either.

Anyone had any luck with really packed in Vapornine carts or other tight kr808 carts?

If I missed a post on this, my apologies for the repeat. There are a lot of pages on this thread to read through!

Thanks All.

I just read this, looked for my tweezers, but couldn't find any (damn kids) - Then I found a tiny pocket knife that had a pair of even tinier tweezers. I couldn't really "turn it" against the cart wall as you did, so I looked closer at it, found the end of the sheet of filler, grabbed that and unwound it as I pulled. Four minutes after reading it, I have a working (almost new) 510 LR cartomizer from Dekang - It works beautifully!

Hi - I read your thread (from beginning to end!) and couldn't wait to get some ejuice (I'm very new) to try it. I was still using the 808 cartos I got with my first kit (Smoketip) and I knew I wanted to refill the cartos. So yesterday I did get lots of juice - I had ordered from a lot of places - their on xmas sale :) - so first I did a refill with the filter in - nothing special. I then did your mod -OH MY GOD! Loved it! But, I did have some trouble with leaking and I have only got auto batts. Well I think I may have killed my pass through BUT I changed this technique just a little to try and get the best from both worlds. I tore off some of the leftover filter and pushed that down around the bottom of the cartos and then did a condom fill. It isn't leaking and it is vaping like the original mod recommendation - the best of both worlds! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - it is a huge difference in vaping!

I'm very grateful as a carto-only user that this method has been brought to our attention, so thanks to the pioneers for letting us know about it!

I've been using the carto drip method with some success on my kr8 cartos when using a low amount of liquid, but when I attempt anything substantial such as DB's video, I quickly get leakage. I know that the liquid should be administered down the side, but still I get leaks. I'm wondering if different manufacturers' cartos hold liquid differently, or if each one varies to the next. Any answers that can solve this problem would help. Oh, and to those that drip their cartos with high amounts of liquid... where can I get my hands on some of those cartos? I am using ones from V2cigs that I got with a starter kit when I bulked up at the onset of my vaping, before I realized how many alternatives were out there.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

I must be the queen of operator error. The first carto I tried (510) was not an easy pull. I tugged and tugged but the filling didn't want to come out at all. I won that battle, but then there was no air flow whatsoever going thru the carto. Tried to straighten out the center pin and opening, but to no avail. Second attempt: another 510 and the filling came out like a breeze, just poof! But so did the sleeve and the coil, LOL.

I'm so happy most of you have had great luck with this. I may try again (I'm soaking one in hot water right now) tho. :)
