Thought about buying the eGo. This technology is too new

LOL, the eGo technology isn't new...it's just a 510 with a bigger battery. If you decide to get a cheap eGo or Riva kit, all of your 510 pieces are interchangeable.

people hoping for an answer can't spend weeks trying to figure it out....Unless they waste money. Like me.

I guess that is why it sometimes looks like we are promoting a particular e-cig. We all started out, did trial and error, and want other noobs to avoid our mistakes and get something that won't make them go back to cigs.

Don't know if this will help either but a friend of mine tried the Marineland blu-foam mod on his blu e-cig and said the difference was amazing. So if you get into little modifications at some point you might try this one out and use the blu for a back up or for friends that come over.
Welcome to the forums... I think we all fall a little in the beginning because there are so little public education or legitimate businesses around. Think of the poor folks that get them at the mall kiosks for 120?

I'm going to take some of my extra foam over to my sister's house today and show her how to adapt it for her Blu. She likes it, she just wants to get the most out of it until it has to be replaced.

I have found that pv choice and preference is like most things, highly subjective. I am neither a fan-girl nor a hater. I have big battery mods, and I still use my blu and volcano set-ups from time to time. They work great if you want to vape in public without drawing attention. I found that after a break-in period, the attys produce good vapor, and when modified to be used on another unit like a Mr. Puffer, the heat is there. I didn't like any of the blu flavors, and started refilling with other juice from the beginning. A friend even modded a cart for me to hold twice as much. They work for dipping/dripping, and have their pace in the market.

I will say that I prefer Volcano's service and products over Blu's, for the same model. If it works for you, vape the crap out of it. If it doesn't, at least it got you started. JMO

additionally, volcano has a 510 clone (magma) and an ego clone (inferno), as well as drip tips, and other vaping supplies.

While I agree with the message here (don't buy it!), I must add, Blu definitely isn't the bottom-of-the-line.

I too started with the Health e-cig from a local smoke shop. $90. $40 on 20 replacement carts. No real flavors to speak of, just crappy plastic undertones. They lasted maybe 5 draws. And then the whole unit crapped out. I was straight back to analogs until my Blu arrived.

Blu lasted about a week for me.. It didn't die -- I wanted to upgrade. BUT it kept me off the nasties until my 510 arrived. I had plenty of juice and refilled about 20 carts with 5 different flavors. It was alright. The carts ticked me off the most (I can deal with switching out a battery, as long as I can keep charging them. Cigarettes were easy but there still was "packing" them, tearing off the cellophane, pulling out the foil, worrying about squashing them in your pocket.. a tiny bit of hassle). So in my quest for a better vape, I ordered 510 cartos and then said screw it and got the whole 510 kit.

I've stayed in the 510 family and couldn't be happier. Never returned my blu either. I use it to test flavors that I once thought "unvapable!"

Blu didn't fail me. It did what I needed it to -- keep me off the cancer sticks. That being said, carefully consider other options when you want to buy your first PV. There are plenty of other options out there.. and the best two I've found so far were half or less than half of the cost of the Blu starter pack (Riva and ego PT FTW!!).

Just my $0.02.

Wow. After reading all of the horror stories here I am so glad I found this forum before I bought anything. Because of this forum I started with the Titan 510 compact kit from totally Wicked for $26...SHIPPED!! Of course after I realized I liked it, I ordered about $40 more in supplies. Extra atty, extra batt, carts, and liquids. All in all it was a very good experience. I am now awaiting the arrival of my EGO batt, cone and charger so I can transform my little 510 into an awesome ego and all the heavenly battery life that comes with it. I also ordered an "EXPERT 510 ATOMIZER" which is supposed to have a bigger bridge form more vapor, not to be confused with the low resistance attys which a lot of vapers like.

Hey, the bottom line is what everybody has already said. Your off the stinkies and that you cannot put a price on when you consider the health benefits. So what...you spent $200 or $175 or whatever towards your first step in prolonging your life. Congratulations!!

Welcome to the forum!!!!

I was talking about e-cigs in general, not the 510.

That being said, thanks everyone for the posts. I'm satisfied with the 510 for now. Time to figure out which e-juices I enjoy the most.

The Blu wasn't really designed for a moderate/heavy smoker. They were designed for the social/light smoker. Unfortunately, they don't tell you that. I was ready to upgrade about a month after I got my Blu. But I can say it kept me off the stinkies. I enjoyed it more when I bought some 306 cartos. But I have my eGo now and love it. At least until I get that nasty itch for another upgrade.... just have to keep that one from my wife if possible. :)

I smoked a pack a day at least. So far, the blu battery lasts me just long enough for the other one to charge. That's OK for now since I stay at home, and a good charge on the PCC lasts all day. I can see where there would be definite advantages to a longer lasting battery, which is why I'll soon be upgrading. But, you are right on, they have kept me off the "stinkies" (and I was surprised even after just a day not smoking they already reeked) so I've already gotten my money's worth!

I was between a half pack to a pack a day. My problem with it was not really the battery life, which was ok... but it was the darn carts, and the foil getting plastered to the atty. Thats why the investment to the 306 cartos. But with those, you had to make darn sure not to overfill it, or you'd have juice going into the battery. As long as you were careful, it was fine. I got my monies worth from it and got me off analogs, so it is a price worth paying.

The only reason we didn't end up with Blue is because: I wanted to get them before our holiday trip to the in-laws and I waited too long to get shipping. We live in the city, not a lot of "malls" and my husband went to the (totally archaic) smoke shop near the university where he works and bought us the only kit available. Which is called "cig20", something totally meaningless to folks here but turns out to be a "KR808d-1" which isn't meaningless, but was a lucky break. Because we would have bought any old crap to get us through that trip - but instead we bought something that actually inspired us to quit analogs forever.

If/when we move beyond this particular model of PV I'll remain grateful for that, forever. I have tried various nicotine replacement things in the past - the gum worked pretty well one time. But I was motivated to quit before I tried it. I was not motivated to quit for good when I tried my over-priced, imperfect e-cig - I was merely motivated to help myself through a difficult holiday trip with anti-smoking in-laws.

Even if I threw my e-cig in the trash after I got a replacement, that is an incredibly valuable thing. Not to be under-appreciated. Blu's apparently suck - but if they got me to the place I am now, I'd be singing their praises, whether I continued to use them or not. You know?

Well, the battery life with Blu was fine for me when it charged well. But I'd sit it in the "charger pack", and sometimes it'd last 40 minutes, other times 5. Inconsistency killed it for me. Thanks to some of the posters in this thread, I still have 4 batteries, which I now work into the rotation, and only have 2 510 standard batt's. Also left me a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) when I bought a new "charger pack", and how it had no cord to actually plug into the wall. I was told that the wall outlet was extra. Their customer service is not helping their cause.

Bought Blu early Dec took 2 weeks to get it with "free express shipping" and used it a week before both batts/attys died.
I don't think I am even going to go to the trouble of returning it, just chalk it up to experience. Unfortunately, I liked it when it was working properly. I now have a 510 that was great at first but is tasting REALLY harsh now. I need to figure out what I am doing wrong/ not doing. Possibly atty dirty?

Let me preface my post by saying I'm a newb like you. There are far more experienced members than I that can speak more intelligently on this subject.

That being said, I've had 0 issues with my 510. Is it possible the e-liquid you're using is poor? Did you vape the liquid completely out of the cart? Never heard of atty's tasting bad. Granted, never had an atty go bad. Do you buy e-juice, or just the standard carts that came with the 510?
