For me I can't mouth to lung anymore, I have tried, I just can't seem to do it, it's pretty weird. Smoking is a distant memory, now I love a nice airy lung hit with a slightly warm vapor and plenty of flavor, sub ohm tanks give me what I want, the vapor production just comes with the territory...

Chicago
juice, coils, power, mods, atties...everyone has a different enjoyment arc. Some people think that California pizza with their unusual ingredients like, pears, asiago cheese, broccoli and squid is the best pizza in the world, who am I to tell them they are wrong if they enjoy it? Don't get me wrong, they are crazy. Really crazy. Like people who think Jar Jar Binks was the greatest Star War character crazy! Like people who are confused about what their genitals mean crazy! But if they are happy in their insanity and can't see that Chicago Deep Dish or NYC thin are the best pizza's, who am I to correct them?

Thank you... I thought I was the only one.

I flat out broke my MTL when I went sub and DTL about a year ago. :(
I occasionally try to get it back though I don't need to stealth anywhere, but so far... no joy.

eta: mostly it's just too noisy to SubOhm while watching TV. :p

This is EXACTLY what happened with me, too. Plus, I don't like throat hit. I like smooth, just smooth. I wrecked my poor lungs smoking two packs a day for over 40 years (or at least burning that many up, not sure how many I actually SMOKED). I couldn't even breathe really cold air without my lungs cramping and seizing up and having horrible coughing fits. No way could I smoke outside if it was less than 40 degrees above zero. Now I can vape at below zero temps, have no trouble breathing in any temperature air, and feel better, but the thing that got me here was no "catch" in my bronchial tubes (that ol' throat hit thing) when I inhaled. So I'm really glad for high VG juice, and in fact make all my own now, so I can make it as high as I want. I get all the flavor and smoothness, and none of the harsh hit (it was very harsh to me, I know a lot of people like it).

My husband still likes to tease me about my "clouds," even though they're not THAT bad ;) and he doesn't like the noise I make (the whistling/whooshing through the airflow in the tank) while we're watching TV (LOL!), but he's happy I'm doing this instead of smoking, so it's all good.

Like everyone has already said, whatever keeps you from smoking and satisfies your "itch" is the best way to vape. :)

This happened to me as well. I can't mtl anymore. I tried and it just doesn't work for me. I subohm .5 and sometimes go up to 1.1 for sits and giggles. Whatever works for you is what I say.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not dissing on the clouds. But I believe something may have been lost in progression. Back when I started - couple years ago - there were more discussions on how to adjust ones liquids for 'throat hit'. Seems to me like throat hit is almost a forgotten term. The current way to replicate the feel of a cig seems to be to up ones VG content for bigger clouds. With a high-VG liquid, one needs quite a bit of volume to get much of a throat hit at all. Or, maybe, increased temperature of ones vapor.

Seems to me high VG / big volume has become a one-size-fits-all solution to any vaping related problems - like not feeling very much like smoking a cig. While in reality, high power - if not for the sake of visual clouds - may only be a solution to a 'problem' caused by using high-VG liquids.

While some desire clouds for sake of clouds, some may simply be mislead into barking increasingly louder up the wrong tree.
Oh I dunno, I get plenty of throat hit.

And luxurious mouth and lung filling texture that satisfies like nothing else.

Even if I hold my inhale and exhale nothing visible in a public restroom.

I vape Sub ohm RTA's at 1.2 ohms.

MTL?

It's on my list to try a few with some higher res builds. I haven't been over 1.0 in quite a while.
That was on RDAs though, and just barely.
I'd rather try it with an RTA (the new Bachelor might be the test bed).

I don't roll for fun so I've been lazy about trying again.

Direct lung. I even direct lung T3S. A slow direct lung to be sure though.

Morning all,

I don't post much but I just had to ask this. Why is sub ohm so popular these days? Most tanks and even mods are now built with that in mind. I just bought my first sub tank and after hitting on that for a day, I just don't get it. More clouds, sure. But so what. When I vape most of the time I'm trying to be discreet about it anyway. Doesn't produce anymore flavor than my standard setup and I go through less juice with standard. Where's the advantage?

Don't mean to spill anyone's Cheerios here, I'm just sincerely wondering.

For me, I always want more. Something about the addictive nature of nicotine, for me. I believe many other vapers are like me. Started with cigalikes, then mini ego clearos, then a dual-coil (oooh two coils) and so on, and at every stop along the way, I was sure "this is it!" Then I'd try something new, a subohm tank, then a bigger mod for higher wattage, then RDAs. Then DIY liquid making because those tanks and RDAs drink juice. I honestly hope I never find a need for more than what I have, now. Hard enough to resist buying new products that already do what I want, just in a different way.

I sub-ohm because I enjoy the superior flavor, the warmer vapor, and the satisfying clouds in both volume and how smooth they are with high VG (can't stand anything less than 70% VG unless it's premium juice and even then only down to 60%, 50/50 is death to my throat). I smoked for 5 years, and a cigarette cannot compare to the satisfaction I get from those previously listed aspects of sub-ohm vaping. I've tried other friend's and family's mods who do not sub-ohm, and it's simply not enough for me. As others have said, whatever you like the most and keeps you from the coffin nails.

Same here. I think I avoid it because of the money and loss of satisfaction of the $40 dripper. What of I like it too much and start collecting $150-$300 mods? Wife won't like that!!

My first sub-ohm tank was a Nautilus, full sized. That came with a .5 ohm coil (if I remember correctly). I found that it produced less vapor and required more battery that the PT2 tank that it was replacing. I gave the two Nauts to my SIL and BIL ordered my first Kayfun 3.1 built a 2 ohm coil and sterile cotton wick been happily vaping along for over a year.
I build a 2 ohm, 32ga, 1.5 mm id tensioned micro coil that allows a good vapor cloud using 3-4 sec MTL puff style, and my battery will go for over 24hrs (minus 8hr sleep). So the Naut and all of the other sub-ohm gear is not for me, sorry.

I'm retired, so most of my vaping is done at home, in my truck, or on the golf course. I have no reason to be discrete. I only vape one way. I don't stealth vape, nor tootle puff. I don't have separate set ups for home vs out and about. I'm an old pipe and cigar smoker, as much or more so than cigarettes. So, my .4 ohm dual coil set ups in my squonkers most closely replicate the experience of the pipes and cigars.

This really sums it up. I started with tootle puffer gear and moved on to rebuilding, DIY and sub-ohm.

Never thought I'd do either. That's why they call it a journey. You may be an avid sub-ohm fan some day, or maybe not. As long as you are satisfied with what you have, it's all good by me!
This is me, too. I was a tootle puffer (high ohm, low watts) vaper for years. Once I began building my own coils and experimenting with sub-ohm (o.6 ohms) my vaping preferences have changed. I like a more open direct lung draw rather than a tight mouth-to-lung draw now. I'm not a cloud chaser, but I do like a decent amount of vapor production.
