I agree..skip the pen styles and get a joye ego kit..great battery life..good pricing..liberty-flights.com i believe has starter kits starting from 30 dollars or so..make sure to use the 20 percent off..
great PV for any level..from noob to advanced..

I'd get an ego. Battery lasts 8 hours, you get a great vape and it's $30. That and a pack of cartomizers and juice and that's all you'll need.

I started with a Joye ego and I'm still using it. I do have a 510 for walking the dog or if I'm going on short shopping trips.

My mom when the mini route, Smoke Tip, V4L, she eventually quit with the Riva Ego. She still has and uses the KR808's (Volt, V4L) but her main vape is also an ego.

I agree with everyone about the eGo 100%! The only reason I suggested the 510 is because OP said they wanted something resembling a cigarette. The eGo is classy, but kinda looks like you're smoking a marker (vs. a pen.) But I also agree that you should embrace that you are not smoking a cigarette, and get something that will really perform.

The eGO is compatible with almost all of the 510 parts and does a great job.

I agree with everything being said ....you need to start somewhere and this is it. This forum is such a wealth of info and great folks to help you through. Listen and learn you will find what will work for you. No one here will agree on what works best but I believe we will all agree on Vaping in its self is a wonderful adventure of moving away from analogs your own way and at your own pace.

I am somewhat of a newb myself, almost 3 mos. vaping, did my research here first, i too thought i wanted something that "looked" like a cigg . . . but then based on reviews, and especially battery life and throat hit, i went with an eGo, and i'm Soooooo glad I did. Saved me a whole lot of headache, and expense!!! Whatever you choose, welcome, and let us know how you make out!!

I started with a mall kiosk KR808 d-1 and haven't looked back, just experimented with cartos. I only wish I had looked on line for KR808's first but then I didn't have a clue thats what they were called either. Get two batt's if thats the way you go,preferably at least one manual. You'll find it necessary in the future and I find now I like the manual better. The batt's from Vapor king seem to last longer than the new ones I got from V4L but just my experience. HTH

I think I have it narrowed down..lol
Not sure which is the best, the Volt or the KR808d1
To be honest, I'm not sure of the differences.....

The Volt, VaporKing from V4L and the Bloog Maxx Fusion are all versions of the KR808D-1 and they are all recommended. I use the one from V4L but I think that the other two have a new type of technology.

They're all good.

+1 to joye Ego. And get yourself some dual-coil cartos (cartomizers). If you wants a cigarette-look, get the Volt.

This is not a genuine ego, but it works great, this is all you need for a starter kit >> MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit

Just a reminder with that kit- it doesn't come with the wall adaptor, you'll need to purchase one. The batteries may need to be adjusted to make contact with the cartos- mine did.

I think the Volt or Bloog does have a new type of technology. And what that is I would like to know. I had started with a standard Kr808d-1 bat, used it with the cartomizers it came with and also with cartomizers I purchased from V4L. I had to do a primer puff to get the darn thing going, this did not bother me as I knew no different until I decided to get the Volt system with volt cartomizers. With Volt the very first puff I noticed a huge difference. No primer puff and it produced way more vapor. So I returned the Kr808d-1 bat and kept the volt. Then I tried the V4L cartomizers on my volt bat. Was back to the primer puffing and little vapor. With the Volt I am not sure if the technology was improved with the cartomizer, the bat or both. But the combination works flawlessly. Looks like I'm going to have to trade or sell my V4L cartomizers as I won't be using them now.

I looked at the kr808 but it's not compatible with the 510 carts/cartos/attys right? Or maybe needs an adapter? I went with the eGo because it was 510 compatible and those parts are very common. The battery life on the eGo is incredible, I went three days without a charge. I've never run out of battery yet.

You are correct, the KR8 connector is different than the 510, but adapters are available. (You can get an adapter from virtually anything to virtually anything.)
