Funny thing is this is not the first time.

Well, I sometimes push the button while adjusting the coil and that's OK. It's when you adjust the coil with your finger while you're pushing the button that things go bad. At least it's not just you ...

10 very nice, tight wraps ...

I have a lot to learn about wrapping coils. My coils look less exact than your burn mark does and I couldn't fit ten wraps in that space to save my life...

LOL, I hear ya! The thing is while these little oops moments make for kinda impressive pics to look at later, I've done a lot worse in 17 years of working as a machinist. I still have all my fingers and other body parts though which I'm grateful for. 'Always keep your eyes on the cutter or grinding wheel' was something I learned early on. Problem is, those little coils don't look all that dangerous ...

You aren't a true experimenter unless you can show war wounds!

Pictures prove it. We should have an award for those who boldly go where few have gone before. :)

I've touched a hot exhaust manifold before and when I was 2 I walked across a floor furnace and got the checkerboard feet to prove it. The evidence of both are gone and I have no pictures for proof.

Lots of Iron Workers have lost the tip of their index finger trying to feel inside of a connection to figure out witch way to pry the beam to make the bolt go in, and the beam shifts at that moment. This is called a unlucky Iron Worker. If the Iron Worker is missing both, right and left tips of his index fingers he is known as a dumb Iron Worker ;-)
