I took a good hard look at the SD when checking mods. What jumped out at me is the low cost with 901 parts. 901 attys and carts are ridiculously cheap when compared to 510 parts. Especially if you order from China.

But the 510 being my first PV and happy with the atomizer I didn't want to mix 901 and 510 parts. Have two vapers in household so standardizing on 510 was a better option.

It does look odd but as an around the house mod with nice battery life and cheap parts I can see the appeal of the device.

I've used the SD for over a year now, it's kept me off analogs and has performed flawlessly, Trog does a 510 version now as well which i received today and i must say is superb, i own 8 SD's now as there less than half the price when they first came onto the market, unique design, lovely to hold, cheap to run and a good reliable vape, they don't suit everyone, some love em some hate em but definitely worth checking out. ;)

It's not mentioned as much because most people who own one, two, three, or more of them found what they're looking for. Something that will last them a long time. User serviceable parts. Affordable parts.

Great battery life, nice unique shape, user serviceable, affordable.

Best thing of all, you can go online and talk to other people from different countries who own and have been using the screwdriver. They have their own website that you can go to and post all sorts of stuff about the SD. You even get a personal reply from the maker himself. It's a lot better if you receive feedback from other screwdriver users. Makes you feel comfortable that you have other SD owners that will be there to help you out.

Best customer service and support group. He's one of the few who started shipping out SD's to other countries. Which I greatly appreciate. The jiffy bag rocks!!

I no longer spend as much time online looking for something better. Mainly because I found the device that simply works for me. I feel that I'm contented with what I have. I'm mostly online looking for screwdriver users that have something new to say about the SD (bad or good) or might need help with it to turn the bad experience into a pleasant one.

rarely do I see anyone using or recommending a screwdriver. Is it because of poor performance or the unorthodox look?

I have no idea why you haven't run across more positive press on the ScrewDriver, Bushmaster. It certainly can't be because of "poor performance." I own (and use) both SD's--the original model and the 2nd generation (aka MK-II) sold by TW. Both are well made and extremely reliable devices with excellent battery life. I'm a moderately heavy user. For me, the SD is standard vaping equipment.

As for the "unorthodox look"---dunno. Is there an "orthodox" shape for a battery mod? By their very nature, mods have to be large enough to hold a longer lasting battery (or two if you're into HV vaping). We all have our preferences in terms of switch location, color/finish, size, 'heft', etc. Physical features may vary but no mod--at least none that I've seen--looks much like an analog cigarette. In that sense, they're all a bit odd looking. I happen to like the size and feel of the SD. It's not too bulky and the tapered shape fits comfortably in my hand.

So if you haven't seen it elsewhere, i guess I'll go on record here:
5 stars---Highly recommended!

I apologize if I come across as critical of the screwdriver--that wasn't my intention. To put it in plain terms, I'm ignorant. I don't know much about pvs in general (that's why I'm here) and I have not seen much conversation about them here or in the general conversation forum. So I made an assumption that they were not very popular. Oops:oops:, my bad.
I stand corrected, Andtyler.

Nope, you didn't come across as critical at all--just as someone asking an honest question. Your post obviously spurred a handful of SD fans to reply so, in a sense, you've been able to start that conversation you hadn't seen elsewhere. Hopefully you'll get some different perspectives and information.

The PV world is full of news about "the latest" this or that. Frankly, there are now so many choices out there that I'm surprised you even knew to ask about the SD.

Welcome to the forum.:)

I think the other posts made a really good point that once you purchase a screwdriver you kind of stop looking around for information about the next best thing in the ecig world therefore aren't really active in the whole "what's the best ecig" conversation because the SD is just so reliable, efficient and inexpensive to operate you have found what you needed in an ecig.

I will soon be the owner of 6 currently 2 because they recently had a really good sale on the screwdriver site and I wanted to try the new 510 version of it with the updated switch.

Now that they have SD versions with 901, 801 or 510 attys as well as silver, copper or black colors you can pretty much have whatever kind of e smoking experience you desire with one of the SD versions along with a solid design and great workmanship. The price has come down so much that it really won't break the bank to try it out as well :)

Hope this helps,
Icarus

P.S. It's not obvious I really like the SD is it? ;-)

If you are a 3.7v (4.2ish really) vaper, I honestly believe that, with current pricing (even without the BOGOF offer) the SD is just about the best value for money available. The SD is also small (much smaller than those who have never used one realise).

Here is a picture of my old Mk1 SD (10 months old and never given a problem) alongside my new Super Six for comparison. (I should add that the S6 is slimmer than the SD, crafted to an amazing standard, and 6v capable. Unsurprisingly though, at 3.7v, and with the same atty fitted, it vapes exactly the same as the SD - it is after all a battery holder. you will note from these devices I'm a "bottom button" fan)

I am about to own two SD's after the fabulous BOGOF offer. I already have the SDMKII and it has pretty much replaced my other e-cigs, I am hoping that the original will be as consistent and "just simply work" as well.
I still carry about four different types around with me all the time, but have found I just use the SD2 and the others not so much.

I think forums are generally a place for enthusiasts and collectors, the SD WAS the big new thing at one time, and as many people say, it's so reliable and has such longevity that people just get on and enjoy it. I think SD users believe it simply sell itself and don't need to bang on about it.

And as someone who has had REAL trouble with the 901, with the SD I have found it to be much much better.

I'm very excited to get the real thing, the original, I just wish I was home, it got there so quickly and I'm not there!!!
Prof - the Super 6 looks great, looking forward to your thoughts.

I have 2 original trog screwdrivers, one outfitted with a 6v sleeve, a mk2 and a 905. Can someone please let me know if it is worth getting one with a 510 as opposed to using an adapter.

Frankly, if you have a 510 adapter, I'd stick to it. I use adapters for 510, 801, 401 and 4081 on my 901 SD perfectly happily. (Mind you SDs are very cheap at the moment so if you don't like adapters...)

It has been the workhorse for many of us. I still consider it one the best units out there. The 510 connector w/o the adapter is very compact but I have never used the adapter. Owned one for almost a year now and still not one issue with it. On a special request the screwdriver folks made a 510 connector for me about six months ago and use it daily.:)

Performs like a champ, no issues here in 10 months heavy use :thumb: It looks and feels great, unlike the many tubes available elsewhere. I think many people join this forum when they want to start vaping and then leave for pastures new when theyre happy with there device, or just pop in every now and again when a SD thread appears lol :D
Im trying to figure out how im going to buy a 510 in the sale as im broke
Where theres a will....
